As always we decided to compare it with the new SUV release the Toyota CH-R to see how time has effected XV and whether the CH-R is an improvement. That said we never really liked the XV as a package mainly do to pricing and some technical flaws although love the looks.<\/p>\n<p>Toyota CH-R Vs Subaru XV exterior comparison: The Subaru XV is a good looking smallish SUV, we like the looks as it&#8217;s a conservative and stereotypically Subaru off roader design. The XV has not dated too badly but against the Toyota CH-R is it does look just a little older. The XV is also bigger than the CH-R if that is a consideration. One thing to note about the XV is that all the model grades look the like wise the CH-R which is a good thing if you get the base model but disappointing if you paid for the top range, at least the top end CH-R has larger wheels to differentiate it. We think the CH-R has the edge in looks department although being seen in an XV is not a bad place to be in either.<\/p>\n<p>Toyota CH-R Vs Subaru XV interior comparison: The XV has a good interior, good tradition design and good quality materials. Over the short life span the interior has been tweaked and the final version is very good. We like it but it does remind us of any number of Toyota&#8217;s but for many that&#8217;s enough. The multiple screens add a 1990&#8217;s tech look to the cabin which probably impresses the target market, those who grew up in the 1990&#8217;s.\u00a0The CH-R has a fresh interior design and style for future \u00a0main stream Toyota&#8217;s originally seen in the newest Prius. It&#8217;s got nice materials feels more solid but the diamond motif is an interesting and unusual for a Toyota. We like both interiors for different reasons and so will you.<\/p>\n<p>Toyota CH-R Vs Subaru XV engines and and technology comparison: The CH-R has more safety tech than the XV for 2017. \u00a0The current XV will be replaced this year does not have anything like the CH-R, only the current industry standard of airbags and reverse camera but missing rear or front parking sensors . It is debatable that the standard AWD system is the XV is a safety advantage beyond the straight line. Engines, transmission etc&#8230; are all pretty much equal although use different tech.<\/p>\n<p>Toyota CH-R Vs Subaru XV drive comparison: The Subaru XV drives as well as any other small SUV we&#8217;ve tried, only back to back driving can you really tell which one is better. Of note the CVT and engine combination is pretty good. Normal commuting is smooth and reasonably quiet and the typical CVT problems only occurs when you are actually trying to drive it.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of the Toyota CH-R Vs Subaru XV comparison is the CH-R. The CH-R is a nicer place to in and has more safety and cost less to buy and own than the XV. Some argue that the standard AWD system in the XV makes it better than the CH-R but we think the Subaru version of the AWD is only good in the straight line so that means it lacks the inherent tuning of a front wheel drive like the CH-R is better. Since these SUVs will spend most go the time in the city and suburbs AWD is nice but not essential.
