The Endura is another medium to large sized SUV from Ford, joining the smaller Ford Escape which is also classed as a medium sized. The Endura is also known as the Ford Edge in North America and was initially released in 2015 so it’s a relatively old model. The Holden Equinox aka Chevrolet was released in 2017 is one of the larger small SUV or smaller medium sized SUV depending on how you view size. The Equinox is no longer being sold here as the Holden brand has been effectively deleted from the market.

Ford Endura vs Holden Equinox exterior design : The Equinox is a nice and conservative looking design but it is dated and clearly based on a Daewoo design studio model and clearly a ‘cheaper’ appearance. Nothing wrong with parking one in the driveway but just not your driveway. The Holden badge doesn’t work as everyone knows it’s a tarted up Daewoo underneath. The Ford Enduro is an even older design but you wouldn’t know it thanks to basically better designers. The Endura looks more substantial and upmarket for some reason.

Ford Endura vs Holden Equinox interior: The Equinox interior is nicer than the exterior suggests and it is still a decent place to be in. It’s not particularly nice for the driver who will be looking at a very cheap steering wheel. It is look old and unfortunately on the cheap side despite what it’s price range suggests. The Endura interior is a nicer place to be thanks to modern design and using styling from their cars (when they still made them) The digital dashboard lifts the otherwise stereotypical interior. Note to all manufacturers: having leather seats or colour options and nothing else doesn’t do enough to justify model grades and price differences.

Ford Endura vs Holden Equinox engines and technology: The Equinox only has one decent engine worth getting and class average safety system as standard. There is nothing special about the equipment package overall. The Enduro has only one turbo diesel engine as well and it’s a good one. Fans of diesel engines will rejoice that there is one available in a small-medium sized SUV class remaining. Class average safety is included and as usual gets better the more you pay. We think the option of rear DVD players a little out of step with 2020 technology expectations.

The conclusion to the new Ford Endura vs Holden Equinox comparison is a simple tie. Despite the downmarket feel of the Equinox it is substantially cheaper than the Endura. Unfortunately it’s high price tag with this sort of ambience is not what the market wants. They placed a decent brand at least in Australia with an insurmountable obstacle as it not the real deal compared to others. The Ford Endura is a good package hampered by a high price tag starting at $50,000. We see them imitating the marketing of the Korean brands with their similar size SUV asking a similar price and a diesel engine. Unfortunately for the Endura the lack of marketing of the model doesn’t help recognition. That said Ford is only hanging in there with it’s only successful model in the shape of the Ranger. If only they tried harder with the Endura.

// google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
