The Holden Equinox is arguably the closest competitor to the Subaru Outback into terms of design and price range. While the Equinox is not a popular choice it does have some features which are better than the Outback and overlap in price hence this comparison. The 2019 version of the Outback is in run out as an updated 2020 version is on the way. However there are still many buyers who want a run out model for the savings.<\/p>\n<p>Holden Equinox Vs Subaru Outback exterior comparison: Although the design of the Equinox is about 2 years old since release, it looks much older than that. \u00a0That said it&#8217;s not bad looking SUV just not a 2017 or even a 2019 model. Holden says it&#8217;s selling the Equinox based on looks in it&#8217;s marketing&#8230;We don&#8217;t know what sort of drugs they are on but it&#8217;s not &#8216;pretty&#8217;, looking a little cheap and old school design from a previously well known South Korean based manufacturer. It&#8217;s also the closest to the mini-van look. The Outback is an even older design and to be replaced next year, this design is 5 years old looks and it was never a good looking car or wagon in the first place, indeed it was never supposed to be that anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Holden Equinox Vs Subaru Outback interior comparison: The interior of the Equinox is nice but as we&#8217;ve said before it as so many cheap looking materials and touch points that really should be much better than what they are. There is plenty of space but the conservative older design dates the interior. We also like the fancier instrument cluster. However if the price is right &#8211; which currently isn&#8217;t it may sell like the Captiva. The Subaru Outback has a traditional interior design but the nicer materials make it feel a level above the Equinox. The Outback&#8217;s car like seating is annoying for us but you may prefer the car style seating.<\/p>\n<p>Holden Equinox Vs Subaru Outback engines and technology: Both have a range of petrol and diesel engines to choose from with the entry level engines being decent but not particularly quick. However, the 2 litre turbo in the Equinox is the best value for performance and fuel consumption in the Equinox range with the Outback has the 6 cylinder petrol. In regards to safety system the Outback has one of the most advanced systems available (dependent on model grade) with everything you can think of in 2019 while the Equinox only has the basics regardless of model spec. The Outback also has AWD as standard while the AWD Equinox is optional. If the Equinox&#8217;s price was cheaper that would be selling point but it&#8217;s not.<\/p>\n<p>Holden Equinox Vs Subaru Outback street cred : There is little street cred in owing an Equinox because it looks a little less premium outside and the inside. Sure if you had the turbo 2.0 would be the performance &#8216;sleeper&#8217; you have some bragging rights. However branding is important in the market if you have pricing equal to it&#8217;s competitors. As a result the Outback would win any street cred comparison.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion the winner to the Holden Equinox Vs Subaru Outback comparison is the Outback. The Outback has the refinement, quality and look that is better than the Equinox at any model grade. On the plus side since you can&#8217;t change the stereo in the Equinox easily it does sounds better than the equally non-upgradable Outback in standard trim.
