Welcome to the 2011-2019 Isuzu D-Max vs 2020 Isuzu D-Max specification and showroom comparison for 2020. It’s been less than a decade for a new Isuzu D-Max to be released which is a record but at the same time an indication of what has happened to Isuzu and the light commercial vehicle class. Mind you it’s hard to tell the difference on the outside. So we decide to compare the old and new models to see how much has changed if anything?
2011-2019 Isuzu D-Max vs 2020 Isuzu D-Max exterior comparison: Both model look virtually identical even in the showroom. The new D-Max is physically bigger to give it more substance which is inline with the latest design trend. The odd thing about the new D-Max is the beaver nose last seen on the the Holden Mokka. Since Isuzu licenses their designs to any other manufacturer willing to pay for the basic platform it’s design is clearly made to be as flexible a possible fro customisation and translations to other brand.GM still use the design and now the basis of the forth comping Mazda BT-50 and a number of Chinese brands.
2011-2019 Isuzu D-Max vs 2020 Isuzu D-Max interior comparison: The interior of the old D-Max stayed true to Isuzu’s long time philosophy of offering commercial grade interior that looked and felt traditionally commercial. It was a cheap looking and feeling place to be in and sometime surprisingly flimsy. The new D-Max has an improved interior matching the Hilux and outgoing BT-50 though not exactly the feeling of soildness (if you own what we mean) or adventurous in terms of design but upgrades to materials makes in a decent place to be in.
2011-2019 Isuzu D-Max vs 2020 Isuzu D-Max engine and technology comparison: There have been lots of upgrades to the specifications including a surprising new engine but none of them obvious except for the safety systems, dependent on model grade. The new engine may be less powerful than the last one but that also means future upgrades could be quite impressive.
The winner of the 2011-2019 Isuzu D-Max vs 2020 Isuzu D-Max is the new D-Max. There is not much to say honestly, the old D-Max was a basic design unfortunately priced beyond its spec sheet. Few would buy that one unless when on special as it looked and felt cheaper than it’s asking price no matter how good it’s marketing division was. The new model finally gives it the upgrades that are needed to sell the D-Max as a alternative to the bigger brands but it will take a lot of the marketing budget to reverse the poverty pack image the brand currently has.
