This is Honda HR-V Vs Kia Sportage comparison for 2022. Based on price alone the Honda HR-V has crossed into larger mid-range (by AU standards) SUV class but without the required size increase. As a result it is now directly comparable with the larger Kia Sportage hence this comparison.
Honda HR-V Vs Kia Sportage exterior comparison: The Sportage is good looking SUV by any standards, even the cheapish looking rear end. Overall it looks more expensive than it should be on the outside. In comparison the HR-V is the complete opposite, it is really quite dated and cheapish. The Kia Sportage may look too modern for many buyers.
Honda HR-V Vs Kia Sportage interior comparison: The interior of the Sportage looks great, certainly a match of any other SUV in the class. The two screen dash panel when optioned is impressive but it’s also the cheapest looking part of the car. As we’ve said before the HR-V interior looks and feels Zen like by comparison and also feels a class cheaper? That said the HR-V is surprisingly spacious despite being smaller than the Sportage.
Honda HR-V Vs Kia Sportage drive report : N/A
Honda HR-V Vs Kia Sportage engines and tech comparison: The HR-V has a carry over non turbo 4 and a hybrid option and all the regular safety systems you’d expect in 2022 but not nothing more than expected. The Sportage may look modern and up market but the carry over engines may look decent on paper but not in the most efficient. Reported problems with DCT auto gearbox does not endear us to it either. That said we think the engine does not have the same self igniting fire issues that the plague the older models.
The conclusion and winner of the Honda HR-V Vs Kia Sportage comparison is the Sportage. The Sportage wins by showing you where the money has been spent. It has a good looking exterior and interior justifying the price tag. This is quite the opposite conclusion of the underbody twin the Hyundai Tucson. Unfortunately the Sportage it is not the complete package with reports of issues with it’s carryover engines and transmission. The Honda HR-V is expensive and that’s why is can’t win despite the hybrid option.
