This is the new Mazda CX-3 Vs Mitsubishi ASX comparison for 2020. Continuing our series of comparisons with the updated ASX, it is time for the the popular Mazda CX-3 comparison. The CX-3 hasn’t been updated since release, probably because it is a relative new model and definitely the benchmark due to competitive package especially pricing. However does the updated ASX mean it’s downfall?
Mazda CX-3 Vs Mitsubishi ASX exterior: Easy decision for this part of the comparison, once again we might add. The CX-3 uses Mzda’a latest design language and it does look good. In some model grades like a more expensive model than it’s competitors, like the Audi for example. However the CX-3 compared to the ASX is essentially a repeat. It does look better than the ASX despite it’s 2020 facelift.
Mazda CX-3 Vs Mitsubishi ASX interior: The inteiror of the CX-3 is a great place to be in regardless model grade, but clearly the more you pay the nicer the experience. It uses the same design as all the other Mazda’s with variations in trim and colours. The dash top is hard plastic is the only point of contention but you don’t actually notice since it’s the higher quality stuff. The mid to top range CX-3 have colour packs that really lift the interior ambience to another level beyond all others in the price range The ASX interior in comparison is a little dated but it does feel sufficiently comfortable.
Mazda CX-3 Vs Mitsubishi ASX engine and technology: The CX-3 has a single engine option and it’s a decent one since the turbo diesel option was deleted for 2020. The engine is equal to the ASX but benefits from a 6 speed transmission rather than a CVT. The CX-3 doesn’t have the flashy interior lighting or mostly same level of safety tech as the ASX which we where surprised to discover but at least auto brakes are included as standard. Furthermore the CX-3 has the option of AWD and maximum torque at a very low 2800RPM, again a surprise and means easy coasting in traffic. However even the top range CX-3 doesn’t have a BOSE branded speaker system which is disappointing since the ASX has a Harmon Kardon one.
The winner of the Mazda CX-3 Vs Mitsubishi ASX is the ASX. Once again the ASX wins based on price and spec. You really need to drive both to decide – can you live with the old school CVT and old school interior or do you want the latest driving experience and a nicer interior and exterior belonging to the CX-3. Pricing is surprisingly equal if no discounts are taken into account.
