Here’s a quick comparison between the new Nissan X-Trail and the Mazda CX-5. We like both SUVs a lot but the CX-5 is a few years old now hence some flexible pricing. The CX-5 is also one of the most popular small SUV currently being bought we decided to compare the newest X-Trail.

Nissan X-Trail vs Mazda CX-5 exterior: This is entirely subjective aspect of both cars but we think the X-Trail looks better than the CX-5. Really we don’t mind either but still think the other Nissan the Qashqai wins due to better proportions. What about the range Rover Evoque? it hasn’t aged well and base model just look cheap these days. But since it isn’t in this comparison mostly because it doesn’t have a beaver like (the animal) front end.

Nissan X-Trail vs Mazda CX-5 interior: The X-Trail’s interior is a nice place to be and the CX-5 is too but the CX-5 design just isn’t as consistent as the new X-Trail. For example the circular instrument barnacle would drive us to distraction because the stereo system display in the centre console looks like an after thought with a completely different shape. The quality of materials are good in both but the more comfy ambience of the Nissan makes it a winner.

Nissan X-Trail vs Mazda CX-5 engines and technology: One thing Mazda has does really well in in the tech department for engines, the CX-5 has almost all the latest tech for diesel and petrol engines to minimise fuel use. The CX-5’s regular gearbox would make this the better feeling or much more normal to be in that any CVT equipped SUV. It is no surprise that the CX-5 sells so well. The up to date engines in the CX-5 make this SUV a definite win.

Nissan X-Trail vs Mazda CX-5 drive: Each to their own here but we drove the CX-5 quite a few months ago now and the main thing we can was that is probably better than the Land Rover Evoque which we where disappointed with (both driven on the same day).

The conclusion to this comparison between the new X-Trail and the CX-5 is relative easy. Go the cheaper one or which one looks better to you.
