The world is changing and we are too. We have covered all sorts of SUVs in the last 10 years but we feel that the class is not only changing again and the class is probably at its peak. It is like the station wagon, 2 door coupe, the mid-sized sedan and of course the mini-van trends in the last 50 years.

So what is the next trend besides electric cars? It is simple it is the small car and SUV. The reasons are simple yet no-one has bothered to forecast. After all predictions and observations like this cost money. Many manufacturers have tried to deliberate set the  design trend and have often been rebuffed for their brave efforts, history is littered with them. The designs are often standard setting but the market isn’t ready for them or their is a fatal flaw in it’s price or overall package.

The inevitable automotive trend is the electrification of all types of cars. You can thank Tesla and Elon Musk fro setting the trend.  However the complete replacement of the electric fleet is not practical within even the most optimistic projections. Simply reason is that not everyone can afford a new electric car or SUV.

Electric cars also have a very short life span as their battery will probably die within 10 years. With the home owing feature of our genetic and economic makeup along with economic certainty of higher inflation and high prices and low wage rises and to cope with various world events many will flock to the small car market as their primary conveyance for cost and economy until electric cars become affordable. Perhaps a new economic model of buying and selling cars will be developed.  That said the small cars are no longer the small car you see in the movies. They are just as big if not bigger than the medium class 20-30 years ago.

Most new owners of SUV realise quickly that the SUV has relatively poor economy, performance, handling and an unexciting to drive compared to normal cars. That said many will like the comfort along with the love and hate size relationship. Of course many believe that the large SUV is a status thing? Finally car marketing have continually portrayed empty open roads and camping locations where you can take your new SUV. Unfortunately the truth is that the roads a full of people thinking the same thing and camping site overfilled with others thinking the same thing. To be completely honest all the ads look the same and infrat we confused one of the lastest Subaru ones for a McDonald’s ad.

So to beat the trend we have already being driving all sorts of small cars and SUVs we could find and will be posting a new set of comparisons amongst any new but bring SUVs being released. In fact we ended up buying one or two.
