This is the new Toyota Corolla Cross vs Mitsubishi ASX comparison for 2023. The biggest competitor for the new Corolla Cross and other small SUV is the Mitsubishi ASX. Simply put we like the ASX due to is value for money and mostly wins any comparison because of it. The Corolla Cross has so far not defined its selling point for the price in our view when compared against the competition which only show show competitive the class is or how prices have risen and converged. So How does the Corolla Cross compares with the ASX?
Toyota Corolla Cross vs Mitsubishi ASX exterior design: The ASX does not look like a design released over 10 years ago. Continuous updates and facelifts have been done well and by all physical assessments the ASX look like a contemporary small SUV. It looks more like a high rise hatchback than a wagon and is smaller than than than Corolla Cross. In comparison the Corolla Cross is a nice but conservative looking SUV in the traditional template but it looks a little aged. It is ultimately a personal decision but we prefer the ASX due to having more character in appearance.
Toyota Corolla Cross vs Mitsubishi ASX interior: The Corolla Cross interior is a nice place to be but like it’s exterior design is a little dated. Furthermore there is not much differentiation between the model grades which is disappointing. In comparison the ASX interior does get better the more you pay and the top ranger model getting a beefy Rockford Fosgate speaker system and glass roof. However it looks even more dated than the Corolla Cross. In the end the gadgets in the ASX make the Corolla Cross look a little stingy.
Toyota Corolla Cross vs Mitsubishi ASX engines and technology: The Corolla Cross makes up for it’s equipment shortfall by having the Hybrid engine which offer more performance and economy whereas the ASX gets either the 2.0 or the 2.4 litre engine. Both ASX engines choices are old but at least have decent power output but clearly not the fastest or the most efficient.
The conclusion and winner of the Toyota Corolla Cross vs Mitsubishi ASX comparison is probably the Corolla Cross. The entry level Hybrid Corolla Cross is still more expensive than the top range ASX which is the key factor in deciding which one to buy. The Corolla Cross may have less gadgets on the inside but it has better refinement, performance and economy. That said, if you have decided that a petrol only engine version of either, the Mitsubishi ASX is the better model to buy. It may look dated on the inside but it has plenty of gadgets and looks worth the asking price.
