This is the new Toyota Corolla Cross vs Toyota RAV4 comparison for 2023. The first thing when looking for a Toyota SUV that’s not too big or too small you would look at both the RAV4 and the Corolla Cross. The Corolla Cross is the RAV4 in terms of concept and size just over 10 years ago. That also means the next generation RAV4 will be a even larger SUV. However for now we have both the Corolla Cross and the RAV4 to compare when shopping for this class of SUV.
Toyota Corolla Cross vs Toyota Corolla exterior design: The current RAV4 has been around for 3 years and it looks exactly the same as it did when released. It’s nice to look at but at odds with the rest of the Toyota range due to it’s sharper creases. You wouldn’t buy it for its looks but for the package as we’ll explain later. The new Corolla Cross is completely unadventurous to look or generic. They look like unrelated models due to missing a consistent styling language. The Corolla Cross design is deliberate but surely they could have added a little more flair to the design. It is smaller than the RAV4 and it could be mistaken for any other brand of smallish SUVs.
Toyota Corolla Cross vs Toyota Corolla interior: Both have quite different interior designs which is unusual for Toyota. The RAV4 has a more modern interior design in comparison to the Corolla Cross that has the same design as the normal Corolla. Both are nice interiors just not upmarket, again relative as it may be luxurious if upgrading from a 2o year old car for example. The RAV4 interior is larger for sure but the Corolla Cross interior is smaller. In the end the Corolla Cross interior even in the top models grades are not what we would call premium in look or feel compared to the RAV4 which is nicer.
Toyota Corolla Cross vs Toyota Corolla engines and technology: The best selling model grades for both RAv4 and Corolla Cross are those with hybrid engines. The engines are powerful and fuel efficient compared to non Hybrid versions. We think it will take many more years until electric becomes the dominant engine choice due to cost, longevity and the lack of infrastructure and power generating capacity in every single country. The vast majority of people can’t afford to buy a new battery for their vehicles every 5-8 years. Another noteworthy feature on all models are the standard safety systems which have pretty much everything you could wish for in 2023 including all- speed active cruise control.
The conclusion and winner of the Toyota Corolla Cross vs Toyota RAV4 comparison is probably a draw. The RAV4 is priced $5000-6000 more than the Corolla Cross in terms of model grades so we considered whether the RAV4 almost worth the higher price. The answer is sort of, the RAV4 has more space, a more individual look and a nicer interior that justifies its price tag. In comparison the Corolla Cross is well equipped but lacks of any model grade related interior/exterior embellishments apart for arguably cheaper looking leather seats and different wheels.
