Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

This is the Toyota RAV4 Vs Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross comparison for 2019. The Eclipse Cross was only released in 2017 and one of the newest smallish SUV in the class and the newest of all new Mitsubishi models. As you can tell it is supposed to replace the ancient ASX. The ASX and Eclipse Cross are smaller SUVs but the all new RAV4 have overlapping prices so worth a comparison or review.

Toyota RAV4 Vs Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross exterior comparison: The Eclipse Cross is a brand new design based on Mitsubishi’s latest design language, wedge shaped but restrained forward thinking design. It also resembles it’s predecessor the ASX, a model still going strong and ultimately best compared to. The RAV4 design resembles the North American Tacoma and and 4Runner rather than the Kluger or CH-R. It’s interesting to see Toyota making models which have little family resemblance to logical models and Mitsubishi making different models with similar styling clues. In terms of size the RAV4 is larger than the Eclipse Cross but only side by side is it obvious. We like the Eclipse Cross more as it’s arguably more unique in look than the newer RAV4 which has design touches similar to other brands.

Toyota RAV4 Vs Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross interior comparison: The Eclipse Cross’s interior is a nice place to be it feels as it’s price tag suggests which is all you can ask for in a Mitsubishi. It does feel smaller when compared to the RAV4 but it’s it’s not by much. We guess the design brief of the Eclipse Cross is simply to be a nice smallish SUV to cater for buyers who want a high rise hatchback. The RAV4 has the same design brief as the ASX to be simply a nice interior and it is. The RAV4 is more modern to look at and feel than the Eclipse Cross as expected but it is different enough to make the comparison ultimately up to personal preferences.

Toyota RAV4 Vs Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross engine and technology comparison: The new RAV4 has a great set of safety systems and engines dependent on model grade. The fuel efficiency of the Hybrid and the SUV ride height are the latest selling points for this RAV4.  In comparison the Eclipse has a great set of features too but class average, namely a small capacity turbo and CVT. However the ASX’s engine does have a high torque factor with predetermined ‘gears’ which arguably makes it one of the nicer CVT equipped SUVs to drive.

Toyota RAV4 Vs Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross drive report: N/A

The conclusion and winner of the Toyota RAV4 Vs Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross comparison is the RAV4. The Eclipse Cross is a nice smallish SUV with lots of equipment. that looks and feels good. The RAV4 however is better because it is slight larger for the price and has more advanced engine tech for the price as well. The Eclipse Cross is definitely not the worse SUV based on spec and showroom comparison with the RAV4, the problem is that it is too much like the ASX which after the update scheduled for next year will be virtually exterior clone and it’s arch competitor. The RAV4 is priced about right in the class side but not so the Eclipse Cross which is more expensive than the ASX is supposed to replace. SO if in the market, most people will be looking at a mid range RAV4 Vs a top range Eclipse Cross and to honest the decision would only be hard if space was a major factor in deciding which SUV to buy else it’s an easy win to the RAV4.
