This is our Honda HR-V Vs Mitsubishi Outlander comparison for 2022. If it is not clear by now, the new price range for the Honda HRV crosses many if not all the currently available mass market SUVs. One of the new competitors in the price class is the Mitsubishi Outlander. So how does the HRV compare to the Outlander?

Nonetheless the Outlander looks better than HR-V which in turn really looks like the Mitsubishi Lancer hatchback that has since been discontinued. There is plenty of space for passengers but not luggage. In comparison the Outlander has a more conventional interior and it is a nice place to be as well but it’s not as usefully designed. The Outlander interior gets better there higher the model grade you buy however it is a ‘generic’ ambience which is what Mitsubishi tends to do anyway.

Honda HR-V Vs Mitsubishi Outlander engines and tech comparison: It is also clear that the base Honda HR-V is underpowered and underequipped. The only model worth considering is the now $47,000 to ranger which as a decent Hybrid engine option. Unfortunately for the Honda, the Mitsubishi Outlander now has the option of the PHEV engine but again at a 10K premium over the range HRV! PHEV engine is like a hybrid however you’ll be able to get a longer distance on pure battery power before the engine starts. If you drive within the battery’s range you’ll rarely need to visit the petrol station. So if you travel say 50Km a day you be on pure battery then charge overnight the Outlander is the one to get. The Honda Hybrid needs the engine to work at 99% of time to charge the tiny battery.
The conclusion and winner of the Honda HR-V Vs Mitsubishi Outlander is the Outlander. For the same price as a top range HR-V you can buy the mid range Outlander that had more gadgets, 7 seats and needless to say more space than the HRV at any price level and the Outlander also gets AWD. The biggest problem with the Outlander is of course the base petrol engine but that PHEV engine is just within reach – if it ever goes on sale.
