This is our Honda HR-V Vs Suzuki Vitara comparison for 2022. Once arch rivals in terms of marketing the HR-V has ‘risen’ above the Vitara in terms of pricing. However they are still not exactly large SUVs so worth a comparison. Is the Honda HR-V worth $10000 more than the Suzuki Vitara?
Honda HR-V Vs Suzuki Vitara exterior comparison: It’s arguably the funniest part of the comparison. The Suzuki Vitara design has changed in 8 years so it’s design is against the current trend but strangely not out of date. The HR-V is an all new design and it looks like a ancient design, specifically the last Mitsubishi Lancer. The Vitara has a nicer colour range which a selling point as the HRV colour options and not really worth commenting on.
Honda HR-V Vs Suzuki Vitara interior comparison: The HRV has a simple interior with some nice design touches and good quality materials. This is expected for the base price. Overall The HRV looks and feels good but we don’t think it’s not worth the price by a small margin. The Vitara interiors are an old design but it still looks decent. There are some contemporary touches like the now colour instrument screen but everything else is as it always was. Overall it looks and feels cheaper than it’s asking price by a small margin.
Honda HR-V Vs Suzuki Vitara drive report : N/A
Honda HR-V Vs Suzuki Vitara engines and tech comparison: As we’ve said many time the Hybrid option in the HR-V is the only positive in the HRV package. In comparison the Vitara has punchy performance due to light weight and amazing claimed fuel consumption figures that makes the HR-V Hybrid engine look less modern than it should be. Safety systems are dependent on model grade and the talking point is how the Vitara stereo system sounds better than the HR-V.
The conclusion and winner of the Honda HR-V Vs Suzuki Vitara is neither. The new Honda HR-V is simply underdone for the price and we are unable to recommend when priced at this level. In comparison the Suzuki Vitara is pretty decent when on sale. When not on sale it is priced as any other small SUV and there is nothing to separate from our top choices e.g. CX-3 and Yaris Cross etc.
