This is the new Toyota Corolla Cross vs Eclipse Cross comparison for 2023. Yet another competitor to the Corolla Cross is the last of the Mitsubishi/Chrysler/Mercedes as we understand – the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. The main reason we are doing this comparison is due to pricing and hybrid engine options. We also asked ourselves if any one would cross shop between the two models and the answer was a definitive yes.

Toyota Corolla Cross vs Eclipse Cross exterior design: The Eclipse Cross is a good looking smallish SUV that was to be the replacement for the ancient  ASX. Unfortunately for the ASX despite being old is still a pretty decent model. In fact the ASX is still outsells the Eclipse Cross around the world. Hard to imagine since the Eclipse is a modern and sporty looking small SUV. In comparison the Corolla Cross is the opposite, looking very much a wagon and not particularly new or sporty. The ASX is also smaller than the Corolla Cross.

Toyota Corolla Cross vs Eclipse Cross interior: The Eclipse Cross may be smaller on the outside but on the inside there is not much of a difference if you don’t count the boot space. The interior design of both are pretty good just not quite 2023 standards, with the Corolla Cross sporting older styling . On the other hand the materials are pretty good it just needs a more edgier design. The Eclipse Cross has plenty of model grades but the safety systems are tiered accordingly which is a pity. It also has plenty of gadgets and trim levels beyond that offered by the Corolla Cross.

Toyota Corolla Cross vs Eclipse Cross engines and technology: The Corolla Cross is a well equiped on the safety and features Toyota’s Hybrid engine  option. It is more powerful and efficient than any other powertrain currently offered by competitors except for Mitsubishi. Yes, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has more advanced systems and drive train that the Corolla Cross. The Eclipse Cross can be optioned with a PHEV hybrid engine option that offers pure electric driving for up to 80km before the engine starts up if you charge up overnight, so if your commutes are under that range you won’t use any petrol.

The conclusion and winner of the Toyota Corolla Cross vs Eclipse Cross comparison is probably the Eclipse Cross. The Eclipse Cross wins by not only being better looking but has more gadgets and a PHEV hybrid engine that is statistically more efficient. The top range and PHEV Eclipse cross may be slightly more expensive than the top range Corolla Cross Hybrid but at least it looks and feels like range topper and allows those with range anxiety no reason not to buy an electric-like SUV.
