This is the new Nissan Qashqai Vs Subaru Crosstrek comparison for 2023. The Subaru XV has been rebranded the Crosstrek – regardless they are still the same model and have been around for few years and we think it has aged well. That said the latest refresh is claimed to be on a new platform and there are differences in measurements but it is very similar. It sells OK in this part of the world but not exactly a standout compared to its larger and more popular Forester model. Both models cross over in terms of pricing and size so an entirely appropriate comparison. So how does the updated XV Crosstrek compare to the new Qashqai?
Nissan Qashqai Vs Subaru Crosstrek exterior comparison: As before, the Qashqai a good looking SUV but we think it will be quite conservative in a short space of time. The updated Subaru XV Crosstek still looks like an older model due to the lack of the latest styling elements but we don’t think it would take much to update it if they wish to. And in that regard the latest updated also scores the North American name change to Crosstrek. We still think the Crosstrek is a good looking SUV in its own right so we think that both would appeal to many.
Nissan Qashqai Vs Subaru Crosstrek interior comparison: The Qashqai again uses a design that is pretty much common with any number of new cars and SUV. Its a nice place to be in just not special or recognisably a Nissan model. The Subaru XV Crosstrek uses 2010s hatchback like design that’s a little older in terms of age due to the analogue dials but with a large central tablet screen. The black interior is a little dark though. In the end both are nice places to be in.
Nissan Qashqai Vs Subaru Crosstrek and technology comparison: Simply put the Crosstrek uses it’s rare boxer engine or flat cylinder layout. (Yes Porchse uses a flat cylinder layout too but it is clearly a different league and design. Subaru released the Hybrid option a few years ago but clearly it does not have the fuel efficiency of other hybrid options. The most important feature the Crosstrek is the standard AWD across the range. The current Qashqai does not have a Hybrid option but it is on paper just as efficient as the Crosstrek Hybrid which says something… In terms of safety systems, what you get is dependent on model grade and they are subject to changes so no point in comparing the variable model grade inclusions and omissions – you just have to do it at the time of ordering. In the the end both are not particularly fast and more the slower end SUV on road performance.
The conclusion and winner of the Nissan Qashqai Vs Subaru Crosstrek XV comparison is the Crosstrek. Although we have already said that it is no point comparing model grade equipment levels due to changes – at the time of this comparison and review the Subaru Crosstrek is the better one to buy. However it is not the sub-par Hybrid version, rather the normal mid range Crosstrek. It is also important to note that both have been given significant prices rises from only 2 years ago of 10-15% for any model, combined with limited availability makes us want to look elsewhere.
