Holden Trax Vs Nissan Dualis Comparison

Holden Trax
VS
Nissan Dualis

Here is the new 2014 Holden Trax vs Nissan Dualis comparison. We’ve already checked out the new Holden Trax and despite all the press release and PR  found it too large to be called a ‘small SUV’ in the sense that it slots under the Honda CRV, Mazda CX-5 or even the Holden Captiva. The Trax’s pricing seems to reflect this not as what the claimed professional sites claim as a micro SUV! The Trax is not small. Only the forth coming Ford Ecosport can almost claim the title as a ‘micro SUV’. As a result we put together the comparison of the TRAX and one of favorite small SUVs the Nissan Dualis.

Holden Trax Vs Nissan Dualis Exterior: The Dualis still looks modern despite being around for quite a few years, in fact its due to be replaced in 2014.  It was one of the original models that combined raised suspension and some AWD ability. The new Trax looks quite smart but as we’ve pointed out looks like a bigger version of the previous Toyota Yaris. Although some nice touches it is conservative and hence will appeal to the most and unadventurous.

Holden Trax Vs Nissan Dualis Interior: The Dualis’ interior was Ok when it was released in 2008 then updated but it is looking a little old in 2013. Mind you all Nissan’s during that design period had rather plain interiors. For example soft plastics that look like hard plastics. The Trax’s interior is Ok in the same why the Nissan was when released – Ok but will dated quickly. Some bits are better than the much older Dualis but not much. The carry over part form the cheaper Barina does it no favors.

Holden Trax Vs Nissan Dualis engine and technology:  Easy equal score for both. The Dualis comes with the optional AWD where as the Trax is front will drive only. Engines are very similar but the Dualis produces more power in useful end of the rev range and the CVT auto means its maximised. The in car entertainment in the Trax is a package than better the Dualis although long term may be disadvantage as we are slowly learning.

To conclude so far we think the Holden Trax is a better match for the ‘larger’ small SUV class, as a result the choice between the Dualis vs Trax comparison is…without driving back to back will determine your choice. That’s right, equal result for once on our part. That said the all new Trax is disappointing because it’s quite ordinary appearing as a catchup effort – and we can assume that it will be run over by the forth coming all new Dualis or as they’ve renamed them globally, the Qhasqai.
