It has only been a year or two since the last update of the Prado and that essentially introduced the new front end. But come 2016, rather now (September 2015) the Prado has finally been given a new engine and other upgrades.
The big news is of course the new 2.8 litre diesel engine which replaces the ancient one that was introduced in the 120 series. The 2.8 litre marks the downsize trend in the market where everyone is after more fuel savings with smaller capacity but same or more power. The engine has additional refinement from the base one used in the Hilux and Fortuner so you’re not paying more for the same tech. Power has increased with 130Kw and 420Nm of torque but you can expect that the ECU has been rejigged for more consistent delivery and using less fuel. More details as they come…
For now the 2016 Toyota Prado pricing (RRP) has been released:

GXL$59,990
VX $72,990
