Welcome to the Suzuki Ignis Vs Hyundai Venue small SUV comparison for 2024. The cheapest small SUVs on sale at the moment are pretty limited in models to choose from. In fact any small SUV if not exactly cheap or small these days. Fortunately there are a few aside from our favourite Mazda CX3 in the form of the smaller Suzuki Ignis and Hyundai Venue. So how does the cheapest small SUVs on sale at the time of writing compare?

Suzuki Ignis Vs Hyundai Venue exterior comparison: They are both decent looking small SUV or more accurately high rise hatchbacks. The Suzuki Ignis has the retro modern aesthetic and interestingly has a front end that looks much bigger than it actually is.  In comparison the Venue is a more conservative design that any other brand could have made. We prefer the Ignis as its different yet and not jarringly so.

Suzuki Ignis Vs Hyundai Venue interior comparison: Both have hard plastic interiors with a soft touch padding in some areas dependent on model grade. Nonetheless they do look decent but cheapish, but it is expected but the class standard for these entry level models. The top trim Venue is more impressive than the Ignis. In the old days aka 10 years ago these interiors would not be acceptable for the price they are asking in 2024. For example Corolla’s where priced at these levels back then and in 2024 look luxurious compared to both of these. In terms of size the Venue is just the right size for 2024 sized folks whereas the Ignis is the smaller SUV but it still big enough on the inside.

Suzuki Ignis Vs Hyundai Venue engines and technology comparison: These are the cheapest non-Chinese brands so don’t expect too many gadgets. The Ignis comes with a decent stereo system for a cheap car but most obvious differences of alloys wheels, headlights and significantly seat belts for 4 vs 5. We can’t see either SUV owners wanting to carry 4 let alone 5 passengers!  Of note the Suzuki truly has a high tech construction underneath. The body weighs in under 900Kg which equates to small cars 30 year ago. Likewise the engine power seems small but the cars 30 years ago with similar power aka Corolla or Civic but half the torque. Hence the Ignis not actually slow as all unless you drive as such. The Venue has larger engine but it is hampered by being heavier and model grade differences.

Suzuki Ignis Vs Hyundai Venue drive comparison: N/A

The winner of Suzuki Ignis Vs Hyundai Venue comparison is the Hyundai Venue. The main problem for the Ignis is the price. It now costs $7000 more than when released and it matches the entry level Suzuki Swift (all new 2024). In comparison the entry level Venue pricing starts a few hundred under the Ignis but in this class it’s the drive away pricing that counts and both are the same. Note these are manual only base models. As a result the tough choice was ultimately  the Venue because the mid grade at the time of this review had dual screens. A bit unusual but major reason for a comparison win but that’s the way it is sometimes.
