This is Honda HR-V Vs 2023 Honda HR-V comparison for 2022. One of the most important new model releases for Honda is the Honda HR-V. Honda was one of the first with the reinvention of the small SUV with the HRV with the HR-V along with the CR-V. In deed both models are very popular world wide. However faced with the fall in sales and increased competition we now welcome the new HR-V. So how does it compare with the out going model – just incase you want to buy the much cheaper run out models?
Honda HR-V Vs 2023 Honda HR-V exterior comparison: The old HRV was a decent looking small SUV that allowed many to start their SUV journey. It was essentially a high rise traditional hatchback like an old school Civic. The engine options in particular helped rise the profile in Asian markets in particular – but more on that later. The new HR-V is a step backwards in terms of looks as it’s gone ultra conservative. The new HR-V is not ugly but it’s not pretty either it’s just nice and it reminds us on the mistake Mitsubishi made with the Outlander over 10 year ago – it’s way too boring. Even Toyota’s look more interesting.
Honda HR-V Vs 2023 Honda HR-V interior comparison: The interior of the out going HR-V was a decent place to be in. It was a largely Honda design language of the day but with traditional Honda deign elements and a tad retro. The new HR-V is no different and it is still a decent place to be in with even more obvious retro touches. It’s a practical interior rather than flashy. We prefer the new interior as it just has something timeless about it rather than describing it as boring.
Honda HR-V Vs 2023 Honda HR-V engine and technology comparison: The old HR-V had two engine options in most markets. The forgettable 1.3 and the more desirable 1.5 engine. The CVT did downgrade the experience but the manual was clearly the best one to get. The old HRV was also lacking safety systems and arguably one of the reasons why it was fading. The new HR-V makes up for missing safety but at a much increased price. There is a Hybrid engine model is now and it is the best version to get but it is clearly aimed at fuel economy rather than speed.
Honda HR-V Vs 2023 Honda HR-V drive report : N/A
The conclusion and winner of the Honda HR-V Vs 2023 Honda HR-V comparison is the neither. The reason why we wouldn’t buy either is that the new model is too expensive compared to the competition. Sure there is hybrid option but with only two model grades the price is quite ridiculous. That said huge price rises in general for cars and SUVs due to the global shortage of electronic parts this is quite unreasonable. The old model is decent enough but it is lacking the safety systems you really need to handle todays traffic and unskilled drivers.
