Welcome to the GWM Haval Cannon Ute Vs Nissan Navara comparison. The Navara has been around for a little while now and even a Mercedes X Class at one stage. The Haval Cannon Ute is is a relatively new model to the market and is an impressive model in its own right although it’s longer term durability is still unknown. So how do they compare?
GWM Haval Cannon Ute Vs Nissan Navara exterior comparison: The Haval Cannon is a nice looking Ute apart of the deliberately odd grill cover that resembles US Ford and RAM models. It also happens to resemble the Navara design pre-update to this model except in size of course. The Navara received the refreshed design nearly 2 years ago and it does make it stand out more that the last design by being less generic and having a more aggressive front end and sharper creases. The updated design works and we like more.
GWM Haval Cannon Ute Vs Nissan Navara Ute interior comparison: While the Navara’s exterior is looking better it’s interior didn’t receive much attention. It is still a nice interior but looking a little dated. On the other hand the Cannon Ute received am interior update this month and it looking less commercial and more like an SUV. We definitely prefer the more modern Cannon interior and if purchased in the right model grade is easily the more premium place to be in.
GWM Haval Cannon Ute Vs Nissan Navara engine and technology comparison: There is nothing new or class leading about either vehicle. Both have impressive array of gadgets according to model grade but the Cannon Ute gets more light show features of debatable usability. The only issue for this Cannon Model year is the single engine that appears to be underpowered.
The winner of the GWM Haval Cannon Ute Vs Nissan Navara comparison is neither. As the Cannon Ute is a new model the price is appealing being lower than the traditional competition in same class in as the main 3 Japanese brands. It happens to be the cheapest 4×4 ute for sale in Australia at the time of this post. As with all challenger brands it comes with better presentation than any of the competition. No comment on its longer terms durability just yet but warranty claim notes are 50/50 so take a chance if you really need one. Nonetheless the Navara is a decent upgrade on the series but it is expensive but you know that it will go the distance hence balances the out the Cannon. But is the price of the Cannon fair compared to Navara? Well, the Cannon is priced in the range of pre-Covid levels for these sort of vehicles and theprice of the Navara is supposed to be relative to the current high inflation and supply chain limits but the jump is 20% at the least – is kind of suspect. Is Nissan pricing the Navara because it thinks that is what the market will accept? Regardless these are expensive vehicles purely due to cost of living pressures but more often than not short term ‘cheap’ purchases often result in even more cost later on.
