Hyundai Kona Vs Nissan Qashqai Comparison

Hyundai Kona
VS

2018 Nissan Qashqai

Welcome to the all new Hyundai Kona Vs Nissan Qashqai comparison for 2017. The Hyundai Kona is the latest entry into the smallish SUV class and there are plenty of competitors. One the our favourites is the Nissan Qashqai and it’s been given a update for 2018 hence this comparison.

Hyundai Kona Vs Nissan Qashqai exterior comparison: Although the Qashqai is a few years old it still looks completely modern and arguably the best looking small SUV   on sale at the moment and the 2018 refresh helps it even more. The Qashqai’s design appeals to all of us which usually means the majority of buyers. The Kona is a contemporary looking small SUV although the more we look at it there are some design elements we are noticing that can be polarising. Both good looking SUVs but the Qashqai has the more complete design.

Hyundai Kona Vs Nissan Qashqai interior comparison: It is quite simple winner in the interior comparison. The Qashqai has the nicer interior compared to Kona. The Qashqai interior is simply described as good quality, modern and friendly. The rear cargo space has hidden compartments and lots more cup holders for storing stuff. The interior is a nice looking and feeling interior it is everything you’d expect in a modern SUV in 2018. Sure the base models with unadorned plastic handles does not impress with both SUVs are not impressive, likewise the small screens. The Kona has an Ok interior overall but it could have been so much better especially in top range models.

Hyundai Kona Vs Nissan Qashqai engines and and technology comparison: The Kona has a decent set of engine options with two automatic transmissions that is required because it is on the heavy side of the small SUV class. Safety systems are very good but optional on the base model which is disappointing since all the latest SUVs have more of the system like auto-brakes as standard. The Qashqai only has a petrol and diesel engine option and CVT automatic which means its a commuter focused rather and vaguely anything sporty which it’s looks indicate. The stereo systems in the Qashqai probably have the edge in quality but both are not replaceable but have Apple and Android compatibility – at least until Apple in particular decides to break that functionality by an update and both need to sound better for the price.

Hyundai Kona Vs Nissan Qashqai drive comparison: N/A

The winner of the Hyundai Kona Vs Nissan Qashqai comparison is the Nissan Qashqai. Why should you buy the Qashqai over the Kona? The answer is easy it has auto emergency brakes across the range, more equipment, looks and feels more upmarket. The only flaw in the Qashqai is the CVT but by all account is a decent gearbox and of course a stereo system that cannot be replaced just like the Kona. In terms of pricing the Qashqai is higher than the Kona but it does show and the dropping of the diesel engine is good move which brings the price down. We think there will be plenty of deals that match the lower price for the Kona. The only thing going for the Kona in comparison to the Qashqai is the powerful turbo engine option is great but it is clear that in this class the majority want fuel savings not power.
