This is the Peugeot 3008 Vs Holden Equinox comparison for 2018. We like the Peugeot 3008 although it hasn’t won all the comparisons we’ve put it up against. It’s a throughly modern interpretation of a SUV and dare we say luxury car. On the other hand we have the all new Holden Equinox designed to take on all comers in the small to medium sized SUV class and that includes the 3008. Both brand new models with similar pricing and size, equipment and marketing so worth a comparison.
Peugeot 3008 Vs Holden Equinox exterior comparison: We’ve said it before the 3008 is good looking SUV it’s modern and conservative at the same time which is a sign of a great design team. The Equinox is an interesting design, sure it has curves on the doors that require technical precision to look aligned but it has a critical flaw. The Equinox’s main problem is that looks like an old school South Korean design, it has little design flair and even the paint looks thin and rather cheap or built to a price at best. They the Equinox was designed in Europe are they serious?
Peugeot 3008 Vs Holden Equinox interior comparison: It is clear that the 3008 has the best overall quality interior in the smallish SUV class at the moment. However it is not the most flexible the win goes to the CR-V. The 3008 even in base trim looks and feel better than the Equinox. The Equinox has a nice interior although the plastic touch screen is too plastic looking, the silver trim highlights with large gaps do not make it look more upmarket and the steering wheel controls are not buttons but a single plastic like bubble wrap covering them. Nonetheless the materials is all very consistent with minimal cheap looking plastics and a conservative but modern T-bar, they should also be congratulated for avoiding the tablet style centre screen! Overall the Equinox has a good interior but the 3008 is better.
Peugeot 3008 Vs Holden Equinox engine and technology comparison: The tech in the 3008 is class leading, primarily due to the tablet style dash. Safety systems in both are basically equal on all model grades like wise in the stereo/entertainment systems. The vibrating seats are of dubious value but the BOSE is a nice touch. The main difference between the two is the choice of engines and gearbox. The 3008 currently has standard turbo petrol and diesel engines with a regular 6 speed automatic, nothing fancy by 2018 standards and an AWD system when optioned. The Holden Equinox besides having lots of gadgets has engines that produce more power and an interesting entry level 6 speed or a 9 speed automatic that said, it is a bigger and heavier than the 3008 hence requires more power to compete.
Peugeot 3008 Vs Holden Equinox drive report : N/A
The conclusion and winner of the Peugeot 3008 Vs Holden Equinox comparison is a draw. The 3008 as we’ve come to realise is a class leaders except in terms of pricing. The package is exactly what you’d expect for the price having a presentation of a even more expensive SUV. The Holden Equinox is a surprise as on the outside it is on the ‘white goods’ side of design and it is dated and on the cheap looking side. However on the inside it modern and clearly up to date and for the price. The lack of Auto brakes on the base model Equinox means it will never win a comparison but there is huge price difference and combined with the reliability history of both brands makes the comparison a draw.
