This is the Volvo XC40 Vs Peugeot 3008 comparison for 2018. The 3008 is one of our favourite smallish SUVs due to its looks and features but with the release of the XC40 and a showroom review a comparison was called for. The XC40 has impressed us so far, enough for us to run this series of comparisons.
Volvo XC40 Vs Peugeot 3008 exterior comparison: In the city beast SUV class the 3008 is still a good looking SUV and one of the more adventurous styling although the side on is on the conservative side. The Volvo is a largely unique exterior design as it does remind us of the Suzuki Ignis. Side by side the XC40 looks better 3008 as we like the modern interpretation of Volvo’s design heritage of having boxy designs.
Volvo XC40 Vs Peugeot 3008 interior comparison: The interior of the 3008 and the XC40 are very different and both are good places to be in. The XC40 is slightly smaller but do don’t notice it on the inside as it is a very spacious layout. In the end and dependent on model grade they are equally special although the 3008 has the edge as it’s a ‘space age’ design ambience. While the Volvo has lovely big displays it’s familiar layout except the air vents it’s not as individual as the 3008.
Volvo XC40 Vs Peugeot 3008 engine and technology comparison: Both have the the latest turbo petrol engines with enough power. The higher powered XC40 is required as it weighs more than the 3008. There are plenty of tech features in the stereo or infotainment system and the XC40 has the better Harmon Kardon system which is mostly standard or worth while optional. In terms of safety systems both have auto brakes as standard across the range. The biggest problem with the XC40 is the turbo tuning trick which is just to acceptable in 2018.
Volvo XC40 Vs Peugeot 3008 drive report : N/A
The conclusion and winner of the Volvo XC40 Vs Peugeot 3008 is a draw. Overall the XC40 would win the comparison due to features, styling and price. It doesn’t because the biggest problem with the XC40 is the turbo tuning trick. Apart from that and the heavier weight there is plenty of power from the engines and that XC40’s price for features and quality is hard to beat. The 3008 has plenty going for it great in interior and spec but the biggest problem in is long term reliability. That said newer Volvo’s are not immune to the long reliability and high running costs but rank higher than the Peugeot brand.
