Welcome to the Mercedes Benz X-Class Vs Ford Ranger – Raptor comparison. Apart from being direct competitors the biggest news for 2019 regarding the X-Class and Ranger is that there will be sharing designs for their next models. Currently the X-Class is based on the Nissan Navara and the Ford Ranger is based on the Mazda BT50. Understandably the X-Class is not exactly selling well around the world while the Ranger does reasonably well and just released in the US. Besides Nissan is having a lot of corporate problems as well as brand issues purely due to their joint Renault ownership or cooperation which has on the surface significantly reduced it’s reputation for reliability. That said the Mitsubishi Triton and and Nissan Navara will definitely share the same design for their next model refresh due to their corporate merger. So the class will be very interesting in the next 5 years or so.
Mercedes Benz X-Class Vs Ford Ranger – Raptor comparison: The X-Class is a nice looking ute that’s just a little to similar to the Navara for brand differentiation. At least the font end does look Mercedes like and arguably the overall design could be related to the A-Class hatch or even GLA series. The Ranger is really it’s own design with enough changes from the BT-50 but you can still tell they are related side by side. While both are ultimately conservative designs we prefer the way the X-Class looks.
Mercedes Benz X-Class Vs Ford Ranger – Raptor interior comparison: If only Mercedes Benz sold the X-Class on it’s interior design it may help sales. In the right spec and with options ticked the X-Class has the best interior in the class. The Ford Ranger has a good interior but it is quite spartan and commercial after being in a decent X-Class varian. Sure the base X-Class has a very commercial feeling interior as a base model but there are options. TheX-Class x250d Power is the mid range and best equipped with the interior package but that is still a $65,000 ute. The Ford Ranger or Raptor can never look of feel as nice as the X-Class in this model cycle.
Mercedes Benz X-Class Vs Ford Ranger – Raptor engines and technology comparison: Both Ranger – Raptor and Mazda BT-50 share the same engines like wise the X-Class and Navara. The Ranger has a set of powerful engines but the X-Class has even more. The X-Class has the edge in terms of safety due to more models having auto brakes and the superior in car entertainment.
Mercedes Benz X-Class Vs Ford Ranger – Raptor drive and street cred: N/A
The winner Mercedes Benz X-Class Vs Ford Ranger – Raptor comparison is a draw. If is was purely on safety, interior, engine power and looks than the X-Class would win. The Ranger doesn’t have a technical victory apart from the off road focused Raptor variant but the X-Class trumps the Ranger -Raptor with a more powerful engine option. The Ranger – Raptor is still a good ute but against it’s under spec’d for the price compared to X-Class including the much hyped Raptor. The X-Class would have won except for it’s price tag, it costs approximately $65,000 for a X-Class with options that make it feel like a Mercedes Benz and the top range model is priced over $80,000 on the road! Likewise the top range Ranger Raptor is not worth the $80,000. Sure the mid range is where they sell most and they are priced the same hence neither one is what you can describe as a value for money purchase.
