This model is so far away from the original Navara based Pathfinder of the 90’s that was regarded as a competitor of the Toyota Prado and Mitsubishi Pajero. However in 2019 the Pathfinder is not even a shadow of it’s former badge. The current Pathfinder is a mostly city based large SUV for carrying up to 7 people essentially a mini van. In comparison the Holden Arcadia is a reasonably popular model when badged as a GMC in North America but as a Holden who really know how popular just yet.
Holden Arcadia vs Nissan Pathfinder exterior: Like most GM designs the new Holden Arcadia is a mix of design elements used by other manufacturers notably Jeep Cherokee and Subaru. It is a completely conventional design to look at and the use of other design elements truly means that the South Korean design team is clearly targeting Hyundai and Kia rather than following their own path. The Pathfinder is a awkward looking being clearly derived from the Infiniti design school and it mostly works but being conservative yet almost challenging to look at. The Pathfinder is the black sheep of the Nissan range considering the good looks of the Qashqai, X-Trail and even the Juke.

It appeals to those wanting a traditional lounge like ambience. The Arcadia is a decent place to be in as well and modern but it’s not anything special or inspirational. In terms of price neither can justify a price tag of over $70,000 AUD.
Holden Arcadia vs Nissan Pathfinder engines and technology: The Arcadia is completely ordinary in terms of engines and technology after all it is just a people mover. Likewise the Pathfinder but it has Hybrid technology in some models world which goes some way to justifying the high price. In that regard the Pathfinder has the tech advantage. The nicer stereo system in the Pathfinder also adds bonus points.

The conclusion to the Holden Arcadia vs Nissan Pathfinder comparison is the Pathfinder. The win is solely due to the optional Hybrid drive train and nicer interior in the Pathfinder. However The Pathfinder reliability problems is not a selling point hence all it’s good points are negated. In comparison the Holden Arcadia is not compelling purchase at it’s current pricing. A test drive is essential for both as price and showroom comparison may not do the Arcadia justice.
