Welcome to the Lexus LBX Vs Toyota Yaris Cross showroom and review comparison for 2024. As per my leaked review you should know by now – that Lexus plugs another gap in their model range with the smallest model in the form of the all new LBX model. The LBX is based on the Yaris Cross, so comes our inevitable comparison. Is the LBX worth buying over the Yaris Cross?

Lexus LBX Vs Toyota Yaris Cross exterior: You would not suspect that the LBX and the Yaris Cross are based on the same platform. The have quite different profiles all round, unlike other shared models. Needless to say that the LDX looks nicer than the Yaris Cross. The Yaris Cross is more contemporary Japanese in design whilst the LDX is more European inspired. Furthermore the entry level Yaris Cross is a very basic looking model whilst the top rangers are clearly visually enhanced – as they should be. The LBX just looks the same regardless of how much you pay at least for the time being.

Lexus LBX Vs Toyota Yaris Cross interior: Once again no question the LBX interior is a Lexus and you haven’t been short changed. It is a nice and compact interior with the familiarity of the brand design layout but admittedly traditional in presentation.  In comparison the Yaris Cross interior is nice enough but clearly budget and youth inspired. Unfortunately none of our related youth find it appealing. That said the top trim Yaris Cross is easier on the eye as well. Note that a 2024 interior refresh is due anytime now.

Lexus LBX Vs Toyota Yaris Cross engine and technology: Both use shared engine and technology. The Hybrid only LDX has more numerous features regardless of model grade compared to the Yaris Cross. Unfortunately there is nothing new in regards to tech inclusion we can write about on either model.

The winner of the Lexus LBX Vs Toyota Yaris Cross comparison is neither. Arguably we would be inclined to the LDX since it has more features but the price gap and shared engines loses a few desire points. The Yaris Cross is a good package and the most efficient in the class, however it is still expensive for its size and feeling of expense. However it gets a few extra points of being the most fuel efficient SUV currently being sold. In the end if you where considering the LDX you would only be comparing the base LBX to the top trim level Yaris Cross and in that case there is a $10000 price difference. We would find it hard to justify paying extra for the LDX, since there are many more interesting models in the price category.
