This is the latest Audi Q3 vs Range Rover Evoque. We like the Evoque but don’t ‘love it’ and we regard it as the best of the Euro brands as a package except in price. The Q3 is currently the smallest and newest Audi SUV and we still are trying to come so some conclusion about it.
Audi Q3 Vs Range Rover Evoque exterior: The Audi Q3 looks better in pictures than in real life, overall it is conservative and looks sad or at best grumpy it is not a a good looking SUV or car depending on how you look at things. The Evoque wins as it is by far the best looking SUV from a Euro brand to date.
Audi Q3 Vs Range Rover Evoque interior: Audi usually have interiors that define modern luxury in terms of material and design touches that lift it from the competition. The Q3 interior unfortunately is not from the same Audi stereotype in fact it closer to Ford and it’s sisters in the Volkswagen range. For years you could tell how old an Audi design is and thanks to the pop-up display screen which can only be described as an afterthought means it’s not a really and Audi. At least it has trademark metal surrounds and good build quality on everything which does work to distract you from a expected for the price but not an Audi interior. For the price difference I expect real Audi quality. The Evoque on the surface looks great but you need to buy extra bits to make it look and feel like a real Range Rover.
Audi Q3 Vs Range Rover Evoque engine and technology: Thanks to shared engines and tech with Volkswagen associate brands you get very good engine tech from the Golf 1.4 TSI for example and great BUT optional equipment. Likewise the Evoque is the same you need to spend at least another $6000 to get any sort of equipment above a top range admittedly cheaper but more reliable and mainstream brand say from Japan. In most trim level at RRP the basic equipment levels are not generous but the basics are there. Both are also quite overweight for such new models. The Evoque wins though due to the technically advanced 9 speed auto.
Audi Q3 Vs Range Rover Evoque drive: The Evoque is the better drive. There is less lag compared to the Q3 and the Evoque so feels bigger (which it is) than it is but its nowhere near the best drive we’ve had regardless of size.
The conclusion is the Range Rover Evoque is every way the better buy despite the price difference and the better SUV. In top range trim and in isolation the Audi Q3 is decent enough but it is an entry level model and it shows regardless of trim level. Taking the badge into account the Range Rover is the better one Audi is not a prestige brand to most us just a better trimmed VW. Note that you required to add an addition $5000-8000 in trim and tech packages in both models before they could be called decently equipped.
