Nissan Murano

Welcome to the review and comparison between the Infiniti FX and the Nissan Murano for 2015. We decided to compare these two as they are not common SUV choices in their class for various reasons. If you didn’t already know both are made but ‘Nissan’ the Infiniti being the brand for the upmarket models. We think Infiniti deserves a go as it is quite different from the Nissan base buried deep down – unlike Lexus which share obvious similarities.  The Murano has a stand alone model is very good and really should be compared to the Lexus RX series.

Infiniti FX Vs Nissan Murano interior : Essentially the design comes down to the lounge like quality of the Murano versus the bosses office presentation of the Infiniti FX. We prefer the lounge of the Nissan along with the quiet interior on the road.

Infiniti FX Vs Nissan Murano exterior : The Infinity FX looks good and easily wins this part of the comparison. The Nissan standout thanks only to the glamour front end which is a hit of miss in terms of good looks or disgust. The rest of the design is not really standout and quite conservative.

Infiniti FX Vs Nissan Murano engines and technology : Easy win to the Infiniti as it can be had with all the latest features and the engines especially the V8 version is highly desirable. That said the Nissan 350Z and 370Z based engines in both SUV are more than powerfully enough.

Infiniti FX Vs Nissan Murano drive : Driving a Nissan Murano is a actually Ok. It’s nice and quiet except for some engine revving CVT and steers OK but slightly vague. It’s perfect for commuting and family/shopping duties where it is a comfy alternative to a regular. Probably because it is a ‘Nissan’ means its perceived to be not as nice as its proper competitor the Lexus RX. In reality Murano is not that far off the Lexus. Since we’ve only checked out out in the show, haven’t driven the Infiniti FX yet we can assume it is a more driver involvement since the brand is more sporty… hence we can’t disagree with other reviews since all complain that the FX is a noisy ride.

The conclusion is simple, go for the Infiniti for good looks and the Murano for comfort. In fact the Murano is arguably better choice than a lot of other SUV of a similar size for the price like the Hyundai Santa Fe (way overpriced), Mazda CX-9 (which feels cheap compared to the Murano), Lexus RX (nice but too expensive), Subaru Outback (overpriced and still looks and feels cheap), Subaru Tribeca is decent but another forgotten but completely justified for so many reasons. Pity few tend to consider Murano.
