This is BYD Atto 3 Vs MG4 Electric comparison for 2024. Both electric cars are recent arrivals during 2023 and are arch rivals in their China home market in and here. The electric vehicle is the a mainstream alternative to ICE of petrol of diesel powered models. The electric or battery powered car was pioneered by Tesla but other manufacturers are catching up. So how do these two models compare?
BYD Atto 3 Vs MG4 exterior comparison: It is nice to see contrasting designs. The MG4 Electric looks like an older design with sharper edge panels but it is nice enough. The Atto 3 is clearly the newer model with curves and the horizontal led lighting in the back which highlights it’s newness. The Atto 3 has higher suspension as well which suits the chunkier body. In the end we prefer the Atto 3 design as the paint work has visibly is also higher quality paint work than the MG4.
BYD Atto 3 Vs MG4 interior comparison: The interior of both models reflect their exterior. The MG4 has an older interior that feels comfortable and looks decent. Unfortunately the materials used is cheaper looking and feeling more like a Corolla from 2011 than 2024 not a car costing in the 45,ooo AUD. The Atto 3 has a more modern interior and is like the exterior with lots of curves and rounded elements that are simply there for design ambience – which is something you don’t see often these days. The design may be cut and paste but the materials are a level or two higher than the MG4. In the end we preferred to be the BYD interior for having more character than the MG4.
BYD Atto 3 Vs MG4 engine and technology comparison: XPower is the key word in this part of the comparison. The MG4 X Power is as quick as the best eclectic vehicles currently for sale. By that statement it is also one of the fastest vehicles in the world including many super cars. Of course this is conditional with plenty of *asterisks. We will go into that later reviews. On the other hand you can be sure that the BYD has the best battery tech and some fancy interior gadgets. Both suffer from high battery usage of around 16Kw for 100km.
BYD Atto 3 Vs MG4 drive report and Street Cred : Only the MG4 has a building profile due solely to the XPower version. That said the regular MG4 electrics are not exactly slow, they just don’t go very far. The problem with both models and a serious problem with Chinese brands in general is the variable drive away price. If you are resigned to paying more than you should go for it.
The conclusion and winner of the BYD Atto 3 Vs MG4 comparison is a MG4. The BYD Atto 3 is good electric car for the price but when compared to the entry level MG4, currently priced at $39,990 – it’s not hard to pick as the specs are so equal at the level. The reason the MG4 wins is due the affordable entry level model and the top range XPower version which has amazing straight line speed. In comparison the BYD Atto 3 is a competitive package that looks and feels better than the MG4 – easily but it is more expensive. If you want a nicer interior but in all honestly not worth the price difference then go for the Atto 3. The biggest flaw at the moment is that no one knows how long they will last for and how much will they cost next month.
