Here’s a comparison between the Volkswagen Cross Polo and the Daihatsu Terios. These two cars are only available in specific parts of the world. The current 2010 Daihatsu Terios model has been around since 2006 and it hasn’t aged on the exterior at all. Daihatsu is owned by Toyota and badged accordingly in various countries. The Terios was also sold as a Perodua Nautica a Malaysian brand.
The current CrossPolo seen here is an all new model released this year (2010) which replaces the previously generation. You can only buy a Cross Polo in Germany or parts of Europe at this point in time. This is just a specification comparison since it is unlikely that we will ever drive one of these cars – since they may not be released in the country.
The concept of having a smaller SUV that is as capable as the larger compact SUVs that can also be used in a congested city without too many compromises is rare. Both these are are smaller than the compact SUVs we have been comparing but have a height and off-road advantage.
Having seen the regular VW Polo and the Tiguan we can say that the CrossPolo is going to be difficult to bypass if you only want a smaller SUV. The presentation and quality is beyond other small cars.
The Terios is getting old and the interior especially reflects its age. It was a nice place to be in 2006 but the world has moved on and it needs an update.
The 4WD systems used by both cars are just as good as the bigger versions and based on spec their engines are not underpowered little cars either. If they are every released here we think you’d be happy own one.
