If you haven’t noticed, there has been a flood of new Chinese vehicle brands entering the Australian car and SUV market. With the influx of new and unknown brand names that arrive without the reviews from many thousands of vocal owners with good and bad experiences you’d expect and the associated competitive pricing, warranty and promises of support. Unfortunately this is case.
We have already been introduced to some brands from China: GWM, MG and Chery brands which have some success in the market. So far they generally haveĀ good new ownership experience but not so much over the mid term and poor over the long term. Although they do cost less than the established brands they still cost a lot of money in 2025 terms and mostly still under warranty which is a concern.
Regardless, some of the new brands we have noticed include: BYD, Deepal, GAC Aion, Jaecoo, Leapmotor, NIO, XPENG and Zeeker. We will cover them over the next few posts.
