Ford Kuga |
VS | Honda CRV |
Welcome to the new 2013 Ford Kuga vs Honda CRV comparison. Both are new to the market, the CRV being one of the top sellers and the up and coming Ford Kuga challenging for the top spot in the small an compact SUV section of the car market.
Ford Kuga Vs Honda CRV exterior: Again we like both designs but like most of the new small SUVs has some deliberate but visually awkward design statements. The new Ford Kuga uses the same design theme as all the latest Ford’s including the former owned Range Rover. The Kuga looks good and its lines hides it size while looking ‘aggressive’ compared to other SUVs. The new CRV looks good too in particular its thicker side sills and metal cover gives it a tougher image. We appreciate both designs.
Ford Kuga Vs Honda CRV interior: As we’ve said before the Ford Kuga follows Ford’s completely modern and current high tech seemingly button filled edgy dashboard. It does look good and the buttons are mainly for the stereo in car entrainment controls. It is quicker to learn and less fiddly than those with a single joystick and easier than many touch screen interfaces. The Kuga’s interior is less flexiable has limited storage and feels smaller and closed in or perhaps ‘bulky’ than the CRV which is open and ‘friendly’. Of note the Ford Kuga’s extra high drivers seat adjustment is impressive. The CRV’s interior is designed for actual family use the perfect example is the specific rear seat mirror and the only issue is the quality of materials in some visible parts and the number panels for the dashboard. Overall the majority, like us will prefer the convenience of the Hondas CRVs interior although the Ford Kuga is still a great piece of design and quality too!
Ford Kuga Vs Honda CRV engine and technology: The Honda CRV technology is state of the art but not leading edging edge like the Ford Ecoboost engines. Unfortunately Ford’s choice of adjusting turbo settings to differentiate models negate any other praise we have for the engines. The CRVs engine are typically rev happy and sporty which adds to driving enjoyment along with the big fuel saving of being able to use 91 Octane. Win to the Honda due to overall honestly.
Ford Kuga Vs Honda CRV on road: N/A
From a family view the CRV wins – it is just easier to live with. The Ford Kuga is a great design inside an out! Very modern and great build quality easily surpassing although not completely outdoing the the CX-5, VW Tiguan, CRV and even – just under the Land Rover Evoque. First impressions are very good and worth a look.
