Welcome to the Ford Puma vs Toyota Yaris Cross spec and showroom comparison for 2021. Two of the newest 2021 model releases in the small SUV class and direct competitors. We checked our both in the showroom last month and debated over both models to decide which one is the winner of this comparison.
Ford Puma vs Toyota Yaris Cross exterior: Visually the Ford Puma looks like a a small sporty liftback with Jaguar or Porchse styling, at least on an angle profile but directly side on which is clearly on the conservative side, overall its a good effort. The Yaris Cross is not a good looking design on first viewing. It’s a little awkward like most Toyota’s and not the ‘sexy’ design language Toyota are currently promoting.
Ford Puma vs Toyota Yaris Cross interior: The Yaris Cross does not have an interior to boast about. It is very ordinary in terms of materials and design. It is true that it’s most hard plastics and reveals it’s origins belonging to the almost the cheapest model in the Toyota range. It seems to be targeted as a small family runabout than a first car to take your friends out in. The Yaris Cross pod inspired instrument panel looks toy like compared to the more high tech digital screen. The Puma interior is definitely the better one in terms of materials and logic more expensive certainly a level above the Yaris Cross. That said it’s depend on which model grade you can afford.
Ford Puma vs Toyota Yaris Cross engine and technology: The engine and safety tech is what the Yaris Cross is all about. The Hybrid engine probably the same as the Yaris and Prius C and economical consistently than any other in terms of petrol use. Power figures on paper look weak but like small turbo 3 cylinders has adequate mid range power. Safety systems also include standard active cruise control and auto brakes across the range. The Yaris Cross also offers the option of AWD which is currently missing on most of the competition. The Ford Puma has the more powerful engine but there is no hybrid option and it matches the Yaris Cross in safety except for the every more important active cruise control system.
Ford Puma vs Toyota Yaris Cross road test: N/A
The winner of the Ford Puma vs Toyota Yaris Cross comparison is the Yaris Cross. The only area the Puma wins over the Yaris Cross is the interior materials and design. You see, the Yaris Cross just as well equipped as the Puma for urban travels despite the basic interior. The Yaris Cross however includes the latest safety tech, optional AWD and hybrid engine is a tough combination to beat in 2021. You’d expect to pay a lot for the Yaris Cross and to some extent you do. But in the end without the AWD option ticked the prices are very similar to the Puma.
