Welcome to the Mitsubishi Triton Vs Ford Ranger – Raptor comparison for 2019. Fresh updates in 2019 for both Ranger and Triton means we need to update the comparison. We like the Ford Ranger but don’t love it. It’s too big and overpriced to be recommended for the daily driver or as a replacement for a hatchback or sedan but lots of people love it precisely due those factors.
Mitsubishi Triton Vs Ford Ranger exterior comparison: The talk of the town is the Triton’s new looks. Mitsubishi have done a great job in updating the older model that it looks completely new however there are carryover panels that you don’t really notice unless side by side with the superseded model. We thing it’s one of the best looking ute in class and doesn’t need the bulk of other models to impress. The Ford Ranger hasn’t changed since the refresh 2 years ago. It is still the good looking ute that disguises it’s Mazda BT-50 origins completely. It resembles the popular F150 but at the same time doesn’t. The overall conservative deign means that is is possible to make it more aggressive as many owners have, some have done a great job with the mods but many haven’t. The new Raptor model grade is a nice additional to the range but simply looks just like any other aftermarket modified Ranger which is a pity.
Mitsubishi Triton Vs Ford Ranger interior comparison: The new Triton’s interior is a nice place to be dependent on model grade. The updated interior looks good enough in spite of the dashboard’s hard plastic top but the accents are soft touch which lifts the ambience. We don’t mind hard plastic dashboards as long as it look goods and the Triton looks good enough. The Ford Ranger interior hasn’t changed over the years so it’s still larger than the Triton but minimal or feels empty. The digital dash look good along with the centre screen but the empty space around the buttons and dash is just cheap looking. There are some higher quality materials but not sure about whether longer term wear and tear on the softer materials will go the distance. The Ranger Raptor variant scores some updated trim features and looks good but not for the price.
Mitsubishi Triton Vs Ford Ranger engines and technology comparison: Although there is no change to the Triton’s engine it is decent enough with the new 6 speed auto box. The 4WD system is still the best in class as you can use it on the road if you want to. The best inclusion in the Triton is the auto emergency brakes in many models. In comparison the most notable upgrade to the Ford Ranger is the introduction o the new 2 litre twin turbo engine that surpasses the 5 cylinder single turbo diesel. With the introduction of the new engine also sees the model split to the Raptor branded model grade. However the engine is available in the regular Ranger with the new 10 speed automatic. That said the Raptor brand is all about performance but the engine does not produce any more than the regular Ranger with the same option which is a rip off since the ‘Raptor’ brand also implies an all round performance truck. Rather the Ranger Raptor is about off road performance and is fitted with bespoke suspension upgrades. The Ranger update does not beat the Triton in terms of tech options and the Ranger lacks in some areas especially the Raptor that is missing Auto emergency brakes and extra power.
Mitsubishi Triton Vs Ford Ranger drive and street cred: N/A
The winner Mitsubishi Triton Vs Ford Ranger – Raptor comparison is the Triton. The Triton is the better value for money purchase even with the smallish price increase an along with it’s genuine good looks especially with some cosmetic options is even better. The Ranger and Raptor models are a step in the right direction but it seems more PR or advertising than the full fat especially the Raptor model. It’s like the 6 speed logo on the side of the Ranger implying 6 cylinder engine when it’s only a 5 or 4 cylinder option. The advertising of Emergency assistance of rate Ranger is not auto brakes it just a phone number. Be honest Ford. Is the Ford Ranger worth $10000 more than most Triton models and is the Ranger Raptor worth $30000 more than the top range Mitsubishi Triton, definitely not!
