This is the new GWM Haval Jolion Vs Mitsubishi ASX comparison for 2024. The lengthy name for one of newer models on sale is the Great Wall Motors Haval Jolion whilst the Mitsubishi ASX is a very short and old badge here for the long term. So how does the newer Jolion compare to the ancient ASX. We where surprised by the result….
GWM Haval Jolion Vs Mitsubishi ASX exterior comparison: No question the Jolion is an awkward looking SUV and as a result does stand out. Only the front end design truly works well but the rest is simply odd. In comparison the ASX can be described as a nice design that hides it’s age very well.
GWM Haval Jolion Vs Mitsubishi ASX interior comparison: Starting off with the ASX interior, it is best described as 90’s inspired but decent enough place to be in. It’s certainly not premium by 2024 standards but well equipped with some fancy lights and screens. Unfortunately the Jolion follows the same design theme of updating an old interior design with the latest screens but does better with new materials and curves. It does work better and mostly looks good and feels good compared.
GWM Haval Jolion Vs Mitsubishi ASX engine and technology comparison: The ASX engine package is very simple with 2 non-turbo engines that rely on capacity rather than turbos for power. Safety systems are dependent on the the model grade but as far as we can tell, you eventually get all the good stuff that works. In comparison the Jolion has the latest turbo charged engines with typical turbo turning tricks but also has the option of a Hybrid. The DCT auto gearbox is a story worth waiting for when the warranty runs out. Aside from that there are a surprising amount of gadgets and features included although none stand out. Gadget list changes according to model grade and there are currently 6 different versions.
The conclusion and winner of the GWM Haval Jolion Vs Mitsubishi ASX comparison is neither. For the price in 2024 the Jolion is a great buy and arguably the cheapest normal sized SUV you can buy. There are 6 variants to choose from and all priced under 45K on road at the time of this post. With the cheapest under 30k when on sale there is plenty to like if you are willing to take a chance on durability over the longer term. Choosing to buy a Jolion clearly means you support dumping of cars un-sellable in the country of original, at prices no one else can compete. Although it helps in some ways in the end it simply makes inflation and costs rise even more in the longer run. In the circular scheme of things means you lose your own job eventually due to buying one. The ASX seems under spec in comparison but it follows the a fairer economic path and it is a proven and more durable package you can depend on even out of warranty.
