Holden Trailblazer VS Holden Arcadia Comparison

Holden Arcadia

Holden Trailblazer

Welcome to our comparison of the Holden Arcadia vs Holden Trailblazer for 2018. Unfair comparison really as the Trailblazer is a genuine 4WD based on the Colorado commercial ute. However while off road capability is not comparable pricing overlaps and size. Admittedly the Toyota Kluger is the direct competitor to the Holden Arcadia. It is nice to see that Holden is using the same North American model names rather than unrelated ones as in the past. Note we used the GMC press images as they are better than the Holden ones.

Holden Arcadia vs Holden Trailblazer exterior: Both are large box like SUVs with the Traiblzer surprisingly the least box like design. That said the Trailblazer is not an good looking SUV and clearly a clone of the Isuzu MU-X. The new Arcadia is worth exploring as it has the same styling themes  specifically the angled wagon pillar with the smaller 3rd window, as the Equinox and Trailblazer, so all 3 models at least look like they belong to the same brand. However we can see Subaru in the front end and definitely Jeep Cherokee in the side profile. It is different to the other but not different enough to make it stand in the sea of other Jeeps and Subarus except in size. In the end the Holden Arcadia is the same as the GMC Arcadia designed for the North American market it shows and we think looks better than the Trailblazer. That said it doesn’t look upmarket enough to justify the top end pricing of nearly $70000. The Trailblazer is simply challenging to look at.

Holden Arcadia vs Holden Trailblazer interior: The Holden Trailblazer’s interior is an improvement over the original which was simply cheap and nasty for the price you where expected to pay. It is still a less than class average especially compare to the better value Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. How could they expect any customer to pay this much for a frequently advertised family SUV? The Trailblazer is still a commercial SUV. The Arcadia is certainly designed for the private buyer. The materials are better and the design is more car like although quite conservative in design. The partial digital instruments is a nice touch. It’s definitely a better place to be than the Trailblazer. That said for the top range Arcadia is nearly $70,000 it doesn’t feel like a car or SUV at this price.

Holden Arcadia vs Holden Trailblazer engines and technology: The engine and technology in both SUV are up to date. The Trailblazer is an exclusive turbo diesel and the Arcadia only a petrol V6. We think wither is a good choice as it caters perfectly to the market. That said the V6 in the Arcadia is not fuel efficient but has enough power for the class. That said 20 years ago the fuel consumption from such powerful 231Kw engine would be a dream as this was supercar level, how times have changed. We wish the stereo system in both could be updated as they are nice but ordinary in terms of quality. Overall both are quite ordinary specified SUVs with nothing that stands out form the rest.

Holden Arcadia vs Holden Trailblazerr road test: N/Z

The conclusion to the Holden Arcadia vs Holden Trailblazer comparison is probably the Trailblazer. The Trailblazer wins by being better value for money. Both are for different buyers, the Arcadia is mined clearly at Toyota Kluger customers, an SUV like the 80’s mini van but with some AWD tech. The Trailblazer is still a 4WD commercial SUV and there are proper van based SUVs that have not only higher seating but better space efficiency and performance.
