This is our Honda HR-V Vs VW T-Roc comparison for 2022. The HR-V is clearly out of it’s size and specification class due to it’s current retail pricing. As a result the Honda is against virtually all the popular main stream SUVs regardless of size and model grade. Of the newer small SUVs on sale is the the VW T-Roc and based on the VW Golf. So how do they compare?
Honda HR-V Vs VW T-Roc exterior comparison: Being completely honest neither designs are attention grabbers. This is deliberate design choice by Honda and Volkswagen and disappointing. The only addition to both models are nice looking large alloys wheels that require expensive tyres. That said the VW with certain options does look more premium than the HRV at any model grade.
Honda HR-V Vs VW T-Roc interior comparison: Overall the interior of the HRV is best described as good enough. There are limited trim options in the HRV but it looks nice enough though not $40 – $50K worth. In comparison the basic T-Roc is similar but it’s model grades and option packages help the interior feel much more albeit traditional luxury ambience. Sure the basic T-Roc’s Golf based interior looks and feels cheaper than the entry level HRV which is disappointing for VW. Yep the base T-Roc is pretty basic without the styling package.
Honda HR-V Vs VW T-Roc drive report : N/A
Honda HR-V Vs VW T-Roc engines and tech comparison: The HRV has an underpowered petrol and a decent hybrid powered engine as choices with safety systems dependent on model grade. The T-Roc doesn’t have fancy engines just the usual small capacity 4 cylinders with a turbo charge and turbo tuning trickery and the problematic DSG gearbox. At least the T-Roc has decent performance but so does the Hybrid equipped HRV.
The conclusion and winner of the Honda HR-V Vs VW T-Roc is neither. The T-Roc has dated before it’s time and now that it has matching price to the HRV in base trim it becomes less appealing. Without the optional trim packs it is very class average in every way. In comparison and as we’ve said before the Honda HR-V is expensive and the only version worth your while is the one with the Hybrid engine.
