Hyundai Santa Fe Vs Kia Sorento comparison

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe
VS

Kia Sorento

This is the Hyundai Santa Fe Vs Kia Sorento comparison for 2018. As usual Hyundai have released a all new Santa Fe whilst Kia still has the under body twin the Sorento still in production. The current Sorento hasn’t really changed from it’s original release and it still remains a nice looking but conservative design. To be completely honest it looks as new as the new Santa Fe. So how does the Sorento compare elsewhere to the all new Hyundai Santa Fe?

Hyundai Santa Fe Vs Kia Sorento exterior comparison: The Santa Fe is essentially a mix of exisiting designs from other manufacturers specifically Jeep, Peugeot, Mazda and thankfully less Audi. It is unfortunate that Hyundai hasn’t developed a brand design language. The Sorento is a modern looking SUV too and we that that it’s conservative side profile means it doesn’t age quickly. It’s design is smaller but not unique either resembling any number of SUV in particular the Mercedes G class.

Hyundai Santa Fe Vs Kia Sorento interior comparison: The Sorento interior looks and feel good very nice for the prices. The Santa Fe has a derivative interior but it’s nice just not special. The lack of storage spots in the Santa Fe for a brand new design is  an interesting design choice but the wireless charging in some models is a nice feature – but be warned to use Applecar play or Android Auto still means you still need wires to connect. I also want digital radio but be connected to GPS which can’t be done – I don’t want to waste my mobile data streaming a radio station and burning up my phone at the same time.

Hyundai Santa Fe Vs Kia Sorento engine and technology comparison: The technology and safety features in the Santa Fe exceed that of the Sorento. However the basic engine choice in the Santa Fe is uninspiring. The Sorento has a base V6 engine for much more power but still the option of the same diesel engine as the Santa Fe. Sure the V6 may use more petrol but still least it has significantly more power hence easier and nicer to drive.

Hyundai Santa Fe Vs Kia Sorento drive report : N/A

The conclusion and winner of the Hyundai Santa Fe Vs Kia Sorento comparison is a draw. The difference between the two is the choice of base engine, exterior and interior design. We think the Sorento despite being older feels more ‘luxurious’ as it’s more subtle whereas the Santa Fe with it’s cheap looking centre screen shouts following the trend. The Santa Fe and Sorento look and feel like a modern SUVs that do not have any design brand history to develop from. Eg Fiat 500, Mini and the VW Beetle which A bit said really… Until Hyundai and Kia develop they will never be a premium brand charring premium prices with its current models the only representation of their intrinsic worth. If you only buy a car or SUV based on it’s features and trinkets than these are two of the best choices otherwise there are those with better street cred.
