This is our Volkswagen T- Cross Vs Hyundai Venue comparison for 2022. The T-Cross is Volkswagen’s cheapest SUV and it shows, likewise The Hyundai Venue is the cheapest Hyundai you can buy in the country at the moment. Mind you both are difficult to buy at the moment due to worldwide shortages. So far we think that the Hyundai Venue has some charm but the T-Cross does not, so how do they compare to each other?
Volkswagen T- Cross Vs Hyundai Venue exterior comparison: The design of both models follow the same basic design theme of essentially a small mini-van. Both look rather cheap as base models but when you but the top rangers with optional packs in the case of the VW T-Cross but it is surprisingly the Hyundai Venue that looks more expensive than it’s price range suggests. Taking the badges off the cars you could sort of guess who made them.
Volkswagen T- Cross Vs Hyundai Venue interior comparison: The interior of both models are basic in base model trim and large enough for 4 people. However the T-Cross has the optional R-Line package or whatever they call them in 2022 as more premium seat materials and but another optional package for a decent stereo system. While the Hyundai does not have optional packages on top of the model grades the top range trim is pretty decent for the price in 2022 despite the abundance of the hard plastics. We also thank Hyundai for not including leather trim as VW trim shows wear too quickly. We like the T-Cross interior but in base trim there’s not much to like and a clear downgrade from older VWs and in some case less quality feel than the Venue.
Volkswagen T- Cross Vs Hyundai Venue drive report and Street Cred: N/A
Volkswagen T- Cross Vs Hyundai Venue engines and tech comparison: VW T-Cross has no engine options in Australia so we can’t complain about the rip off turbo tuning sales trick. It still comes equipped with the DSG automatic which will turn some potential buyer away. It is surprising as the T-Cross is based on the VW Polo. However those overseas are not so fortunate. The Hyundai Venue may be equipped with a decent engine on paper but as per any non-turbo Hyundai engine does not impart a impression of strength when driving it. Hyundai’s version of the DCT auto which doesn’t have have any consistent issues due to being a newish gearbox and only time will tell. Safe systems are class average for most models priced under $30,000.
The conclusion and winner of the Volkswagen T- Cross Vs Hyundai Venue is clearly the Venue. The Venue is far more impressive as a top ranger in comparison to the T-Cross at the same price when it comes to presentation. The T-Cross needs the expensive optional packs to make it equal the Hyundai in terms of presentation. With the optional packs the VW T-Cross is priced around $36k which means you only get a nice interior but basic engine and it isn’t worth the extra $7000 over the Hyundai venue.
