Wleocm to the Mazda CX-5 vs Hyundai Tucson comparison. The Hyundai Tuscon has been updated for 2016 and it is looking much better! The Mazda CX-5 has been around since 2012 and only received a mild staying and equipment update last year. The Tuscon previously known as the ix35 was a pretty decent small SUV and which Hyundai’s ascent to high quality, at least visibly was are expecting good things from this new model.
Mazda CX-5 vs Hyundai Tucson exterior: The CX-5 is not a stylish SUV in terms of looks, it is best described as nice. The new Tucson however is a very attractive looking SUV. All the proportions are correct even the paint quality it up to the new look. The Tuscon strangely looks like the CX-5 especially side on – it’s like the ‘updated’ CX-5 Easy win the the Hyundai.
Mazda CX-5 vs Hyundai Tucson interior: The CX-5 has one of the best quality and solid interior feel in the class and even the materials are op the class. The only let down is the actual design which the centre screen looks like an afterthought. The updated Tucson interior is a departure from the old design and it looks good likewise the materials although some plastics are on the cheap side like the instruments. Overall only vague reminders of the prior generation Mercedes. There are interior colour options as well which is great feature. Both are nice places to be but the CX-5 feels the better the place to be. If only the Tucson’s interior was as good as the exterior.
Mazda CX-5 vs Hyundai Tucson engines and technology: The CX-5 wins, state of the art engine and safety tech. The new Hyundai Tucson are some great features too but it short fall is it’s engines which are old tech. The biggest improvement is of course the simple use of better quality paint.
Mazda CX-5 vs Hyundai Tucson drive : N/A
The conclusion so far is: The Hyundia Tucson looks great on the outside and good on the inside but underneath is industry standard. The CX-5 is an older model but surpassingly is still a decent package. The Tucson is priced line ball with CX-5 which makes choosing tricky unless you look at the equipment spec – only the top range Tucson Highlander undercuts the top range CX-5 by $5000 which makes it an appealing choice.
