Nissan Navara Vs Mitsubishi Triton 2018 Comparison

Nissan Navara
VS

Mitsubishi Triton

Welcome to the Nissan Navara vs Mitsubishi Triton comparison for 2018. It’s been years since our last comparison between these two models hence worth a revisit. The main purpose of this comparison is to decide which one we would buy in 2018. Both are direct competitors in every way but one key factor makes one a winner and one not.

Nissan Navara vs Mitsubishi Triton exterior comparison: The Navara design brand always been about a being a good looking ute and the latest model in no different. This Navara does look good from any angle it’s proportions done really well. It’s one of the few Ute’s not designed to be deliberately ‘ugly’ to too pretty or to try and make it look overly ‘aggressive’. In comparison the Triton’s looks can be polarising at first and you do understand the over time and you won’t confuse the Triton for any other model.

Nissan Navara vs Mitsubishi Triton interior comparison: There is no question that the Navara has a nicer interior with higher quality materials and more upmarket but conservative design. That said the Triton’s interior is quite nice too and dependent on the model grade even better however it is not the same level eg. a quick look at the aged instrument cluster reveals it’s age. We where impressed with the updated steering wheel on some high end Triton models that is shared with other Mitsubishi models as it lifts the drivers impression straight away. Unfortunately and in comparison the Navara’s stereo system is not replaceable easily which means it lose’s points. You see these Utes are usually kept for a long time so a replaceable stereo is essential to keep up with tech connectivity development. Many ‘professional’ site complain about not looking factory standard we say these systems are not as good as the aftermarket stereos hence don’t be fooled, choose replaceable over integrated.

Nissan Navara vs Mitsubishi Triton street engine and technology comparison: The single engine choice in the Triton is a good start as it’s powerful and reliable. The 4WD system is the most advanced in the Ute class as it is capable of being AWD on sealed roads and it is a safer drive. In comparison the Navara engines are interesting because you can get a single turbo or a twin turbo version. Unfortunately the twin turbo doesn’t make a noticeable more power than the regular version but it’s more powerful in the day to day driving which is arguably the point of this engine. Safety and tech features are pretty much equal.

Nissan Navara vs Mitsubishi Triton street cred comparison: Street cred is the same for both but the Mitsubishi has Dakar Rally pedigree, as a result we prefer the Triton.

The winner of the Nissan Navara vs Mitsubishi Triton comparison is the Triton. As we started off the comparison, the price factor is the key reason that the Triton wins and aided by being able to use AWD on sealed roads. If Mitsubishi updated the interior overall rather than just the nice new steering wheel on some models would easily help increase sales. In the end, why settle for a mid range Navara for the same price as a top range Triton?
