This is the new Toyota Corolla Cross vs Kia Sportage comparison for 2023. The Kia Sportage is arguably the better looking of the underbody twins aka the Tucson. As a result any comparison that involves the Tucson also includes the Sportage and vice versa. Aside from that the prices do cross over with the Corolla Cross hence the comparison, so how do they compare?
Toyota Corolla Cross vs Kia Sportage exterior design: The Corolla Cross is a nice looking but very conservative design – very Toyota like in terms of trying to appeal to as many buyers as possible. In comparison the Sportage is a sporty and modern design that has a fancy front end and matching sides and arguably rear end. We like the look although acknowledge that I won’t appeal to the masses.
Toyota Corolla Cross vs Kia Sportage interior: The Kia interior is a nice place to be in for sure but it is dependent on model grade. The materials are mostly good and has a nice overall ambience but the instrument panel integration is still not quite there yet. It’s top tier for the price range. The Corolla cross has a nice interior too but hampered by old school interior design – there is nothing adventurous but at least the materials are just as good if not better than the Sportage.
Toyota Corolla Cross vs Kia Sportage engines and technology: The Sportage does not have any new tech to write about, which is a pity. That said some markets may have access to more contemporary hybrid engine options. The equipment is dependent on model grade… So for now the Corolla Cross leads the Sportage in terms of standard safety but not gadgets.
The conclusion and winner of the Toyota Corolla Cross vs Kia Sportage comparison is probably a draw. The reasons are simple the Tucson is bigger and we think nicer to look at on the inside and outside although it costs more to run in petrol and to buy. However if space is not an issue and conservative interior and exterior design is not a issue and you want to use much less fuel than the Corolla Cross is the best one to buy.
