Welcome to the Toyota Fortuner Vs Isuzu MU-X Comparison for 2025. We noticed that we’ve never written up a comparison against the most appropriate SUV and 4WD comparison. So to make up for it here is what we thought when comparing the Fortuner and the MU-X. Is the Is the MU-X worth buying the Fortuner or vice verse.

Toyota Fortuner Vs Isuzu MU-X exterior design: Both SUVs are based on their commercial utility models, the Hilux and the D-Max. So while the body has changed on top the underbody remain the same. The Fortuner is a different sort of design, using styling language form the Lexus RX models but despite that it doesn’t quite look as upmarket as the Lexus design. Although it tries to look different it ultimately looks similar to any number of models. In comparison the MU-X doesn’t try to be different and arguably using older clues. In 2025 both look decent but you can tell they not the latest models.

Toyota Fortuner Vs Isuzu MU-X interior comparison: Unlike the external changes the interior of both are still clearly based on their donor models. However the interiors have been upgraded to visually differentiate them from their commercial origins with more soft plastics and plati-metal highlights. They are nicer than the commercials but not as good as purpose designed SUVs.

Toyota Fortuner Vs Isuzu MU-X engines and technology : The MU-X does not have any standout tech or engines but it does has 2 options which is unusual in this class. The engines are pretty much class average though so nothing to do a write up about. In comparison the Fortuner has the Hilux drive train which is good enough. The Fortuner also has the nicer sounding stereo system.

The conclusion and winner of the Toyota Fortuner Vs Isuzu MU-X is the MU-X. The MU-X is the better choice as it is $5000 cheaper than the Fortuner. Sure the Fortuner engine has a little more power but it’s not exactly a gaming changing amount.  We think its a brand thing, Afterall if you have a Hilux for work the Fortuner would be a perfect choice non-work duties and for parts compatibility. Likewise if you already have D-Max for work than the MU-X would be perfect. However it is a little cringy the matchy matchy thing.  Like the neighbours with the Camry and Corolla or more to the point these days the RAV4 and the Kluger.
