Welcome to the 250 Series Toyota land Cruiser Prado Vs Toyota Kluger Comparison for 2025. As per usual we are doing a series of the new Landcruiser Prado vs the rest of the world comparisons. They aren’t technically direct competitors after all they are both Toyota’s but since they prices do overlap we decided to do the comparison. The main difference between the two is their off road capability, so how do they compare in all other aspects and which one is the best SUV to buy?
250 Series Toyota land Cruiser Prado Vs Toyota Kluger exterior design: The Kluger the Camry of the Toyota SUV range the ‘real’ family sized high rise wagon. It looks OK just not particularly ugly or sleek by SUV standards. In comparison the Prado is combination of mostly older design language more familiar with the actual Land Cruiser model than the Prado. It is a nice looking SUV not really dependent on model grade.
250 Series Toyota land Cruiser Prado Vs Toyota Kluger interior: The interior of both are spacious but the Prado has a more modern design, arguably better presentation and materials. We can’t really say much as they are both Toyotas with an underlying similarity and ease of use. Ultimately we don’t think the interior design will be a major factor in the purchasing decision. To be honest we have only used the 3rd of seats once and that they can’t be removed easily is a design flaw although only two of us has actually removed the row for more space. Figure that out if you can…
250 Series Toyota land Cruiser Prado Vs Toyota Kluger engines and technology: The main difference between the two models are their off road capability. The Kluger has the ground clearance to deal with the dirt roads, snow and pot holes which is all you should expect but any more challenging terrain is a bonus. It’s system is a relatively basic selectable traction control system that by all accounts works well. In comparison the Prado has a traditional low range equipped 4WD system with computerised traction aids and suspension system makes the Prado a potentially more capable off road. The updated traction control is nice to have but it targeted at the noob and occasional off road driver.
The hybrid engines in both SUVs use the same tech are yet different and we wont go into technicalities here. Needless to say that the Prado version will meet all future pollution regulations since the donor engine is a diesel which arguably has divergent tech issues when used in an hybrid setup.
The conclusion and winner of the 250 Series Toyota land Cruiser Prado Vs Toyota Kluger is neither. Both have different focuses but it will be undefinable factors that will be the deciding factors. Things like street cred or perhaps petrol versus diesel or price and any combination could sway the final decision. As a result we couldn’t choose between them, regardless at our stage in life the minivan is probably the best choice!
