Here is some information we found out about the various new brands that been released to the Australian market in the last year or two. Information is as factual as we could find since the source material, due to the language barrier and the problem of getting real feedback from the country of origin. This week it is all about the BYD brand aka Build your Dreams.
BYD: aka Build Your Dreams is a China based manufacturer.
The company’s founding is opaque but it is clearly part of the government funded manufacturing seeding program in the 1990s. It has the highest brand profile of the new brands due to Warren Buffet’s formerly significant investment.
BYD is part of huge global company that makes all sorts of electrical components especially batteries and motors that are used by almost every major manufacturer including Apple and Tesla.
BYD currently only builds and sell electric cars and a truck in Australia since 2024.Although they purchased or appropriated their founding tech by opaque means, at least they now ‘claim’ to have a huge to improve on them. (aka legit tec transfers as the tech companies they contract – gave them the tech so the company could make them cheaply in quantities impossible in any other country) however most tech advancement claims appear to be vapourware at the present time.
BYD vehicle designs look derivative and resemble models made by any number of manufacturers using past and current themes.
BYD interiors a really nice and often resemble luxury vehicle interiors.
BYD usually use marine animals as model names that include: Sealion, Shark, Seal and Dolphin.
BYD are arguably the best of Chinese brands at the time of this post as they have a brand to protect.
*Due to revelations on BYD’s legal and corporate practices we will not be posting any further comparisons or reviews on these vehicles or products and certainly nothing vaguely critical. You are on your own folks.
