Here is some information we found out about the various new brands that been released to the Australian market in the last year or two (2025). Information is as factual as we could find since the source material, due to the language barrier and the problem of getting real feedback from the country of origin. This week it is all about the Leapmotor brand.
XPENG is another electric vehicle manufacturer (start up).
XPENG is funded by Chinese local governments opaquely and more openly other large companies like Alibaba, international companies in outside countries like US, UK and Hong Kong. VW has an interest in the company and uses them to develop their own vehicles.
XPENG is a competitor to other manufacturers like BYD and GWM at least on paper.
XPENG has token offices in the countries that they have managed to be listed on their stock exchanges.
XPENG is not profitable and makes a tiny number of electric vehicles.
XPENG makes some interesting electric vehicles and as expected competitive with equivalent Tesla models but again only on paper.
XPENG sells at competitive prices but unafraid to lower prices.
