Welcome to the Mitsubishi Triton Vs Isuzu D-Max showroom comparison for 2020. Both are new for 2020 with the Triton receiving obvious face lift late last year and the D-Max claims a new design although it looks very similar to the last one. Both are really good examples of modern utes but we are trying to find out which one is better in this comparison.
Mitsubishi Triton Vs Isuzu D-Max exterior comparison: The Triton is the smaller ute in terms of dimensions but not capacity and it looks good. Admittedly it’s looks will polarise. Note that this version of the Triton will be the last for this platform as it will soon share it’s design with the Nissan Navara. We can only hope that they won’t be twins. The Isuzu D-Max has never been a good looking truck on purpose as this is always the template for other manufacturers it sells the design to to do their own modifications. The new D-Max is also the basis of the Mazda BT-50 which is more twin like than Mazda’s last shared model with the Ford Ranger.
Mitsubishi Triton Vs Isuzu D-Max interior comparison: The interior of the Triton is a decent place to be in but it’s clearly not 2020. It has been looking a litte old since the last generation and the latest revision hasn’t really lifted the ambience. The D-Max has been given a much nicer interior compared to the last model in terms of look and feel but wile more car like it’s not an upmarket place to be in. Unless you consider as an example an Hyundai i30 interior as luxurious which it is arguably the bottom end of the quality material department by 2020 standards.
Mitsubishi Triton Vs Isuzu D-Max engine and technology comparison: Both have one engine which is makes life easy and both engine have similar power outputs. Both also have lots of safety systems unheard off 3 years ago in this class, both models offering auto emergency brakes, dependent of model grade of course. However the Triton appears to have more replaceable stereo system and the class leading 4WD systems so wins the tech comparison.
Mitsubishi Triton Vs Isuzu D-Max drive comparison: The Triton drives like a typical Ute from the last 10 years, so it’s not noticeably harsh riding or soft and handles coners at legal speed without any dramas. We haven’t driven he ne D-Max so can’t comment. That said you’d hope that it is better as it is a ‘new’ model.
The winner of the Mitsubishi Triton Vs Isuzu D-Max comparison is the Triton. The Triton package is still value for money, even with the new range topper GSR model grade, which we feel is just a visual accessory package. The Isuzu D-Max is a good step forward but it’s price tag is too high, branding aside for the same package.
