Welcome to the Mitsubishi Express / Renault Traffic Vs Ford Transit Custom comparison and showroom review for 2020. The Express/Trafic has been around for about 6 years and the Transit Custom about 5 years, nonetheless they are relatively two of the newest light commercial vans on the market. The mini-van based light commercial class is quite popular but they have long model cycles so we think there is at least another one for two upgrades to come for these models. We also know that reliability or durability along with low running costs are the key attributes in the class. It may work against sales due to their long life cycle but car manufacturing in a long term game but then again they could achieve cult status or street cred in that model cycle. Take the Toyota Hilux as an example. Unlike the popular press these days were the least offensive vehicle often wins the comparison we go our own way.
Mitsubishi Express / Renault Traffic Vs Ford Transit Custom exterior comparison: Both are different takes on the Euro van design. The Transit Custom has a cleaner look which should age slowly while the relatively more elaborate Express/Trafic is contemporary so will show its age. However in the end we like both designs.
Mitsubishi Express / Renault Traffic Vs Ford Transit Custom interior comparison: Simply put the Ford Transit custom has one of the nicest interiors in the commercial min-van class for the driver at the moment. It also has slots for the postage tracking machines that couriers use! In comparison the Express/Trafic interior is a decent place just not quite up to the same ambience that Ford has managed to design into the Transit Custom.
Mitsubishi Express / Renault Traffic Vs Ford Transit Custom engines and technology comparison: Both models has decent turbo diesels but the Ford has more safety and comfort features than the Express/Trafic. The Ford has so many more features regardless of model grade, for example, the 10 way adjustable seats, auto emergency brakes, lane keeping and blind spot monitoring and lots more in the Transit. You don’t get anything in the Express / Traffic bar the basics.
The conclusion and winner of the Mitsubishi Express/Renault Traffic Vs Ford Transit Custom comparison is the Ford Transit. It’s not even a close as the Ford has features you can’t even option on the Express/Trafic, in this market at least. The Express/Trafiic equals an empty cupboard whilst the Transit a full one. Mind you the Transit does have a higher recommend retail price but it is also bigger. In other respects both are pretty much equal and both come with dodgy reliability and high running costs history that their older models had to overcome.
