MG4 Electric
ME4 Electric XPower

This is the MG4 Electric Vs GWM Ora comparison for 2024. These are two of the cheapest electric cars on sale at the moment and that is their key selling point. GWM formerly known as Great Wall Motors and their claim to fame is actually using asbestos in their brakes but have since claimed to have since corrected that forgettable oversight in their history. Thankfully they have  kept to their roots by being an affordable brand with competitive specifications – at least for now. The result of that they created the GWM Ora aka Funky Cat. In comparison the MG4 has mixed messaging by introducing the XPower brand of dual motor variants that sell on their performance, specifically the 0-100 sprint but not range. So how to the cheapest electric cars compare?

MG4 Electric Vs GWM Ora exterior comparison: GWM Ora is a good looking smallish hatchback design and to us it looks like it is based on the original Nissan Leaf and Mini Cooper hatch influenced front and rear designs. In comparison the MG4 Electric is more original in design but it still looks like older model due to it’s dated sharp side panel creases or design accents that are reminiscent of 1980’s Corollas. It not a bad thing it just looks older than it should.

MG4 Electric Vs GWM Ora interior comparison: The interior of the Ora is a great place to be in, even in the base model! The materials, design, colours and ambience make GWM Ora a genuinely great place to be in. Although not entirely original design it will impress anyone, for the price. In comparison the MG4 interior is best described as a decent place to be in with the best overall description as ‘entry level’ regardless of model grade, which is a little disappointing since it costs more than the GWM Ora.

MG4 Electric Vs GWM Ora engine and technology comparison: There is very little difference in both models based on  tech specs. Both are front wheel drive in standard spec and the performance boost on the MG4 is due to the dual motor setup since in front wheel drive setup there is a limit to how much power you can safety output. We are honestly can’t find another other real difference that could not be changed with a software update or different type of battery aka bigger.

The conclusion and winner of the MG4 Electric Vs GWM Ora comparison is the GWM Ora. At the time of this review and comparison the GWM Ora is the better car to guy due to it’s price drop for the entry level model. The Ora base model doesn’t really miss out that many features compared to the other 2 model grades in the range. In comparison the MG4 Electric needs an interior update to all model grades in order to compete, although its performance is more than sufficient. Both brands do have an interest in selling cars for the long term and have managed to stay a float for the last 20 years so you can be confident that they should be around for the warranty period.
