Welcome to the 250 Series Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Vs Toyota Fortuner Comparison for 2025. As expected with a new model Prado we have started a series comparing it to the competition. The new Prado is clearly targeted at the buyer with a higher budget than the Fortuner. The two models used to cross over in terms of pricing but the entry level pricing for the new Prado has risen notably and now they are separated. So how do the two compare and which one should you consider buying?
250 Series Toyota land Cruiser Prado Vs Toyota Fortuner exterior design: The new Prado is a design that looks more retro than modern. It has the angles that we’ve seen before from any number of past Land Cruisers in particular the FJ Cruiser. In fact if you change the front lights and add a side body crease to the older FJ t would look very much like a smaller Prado. That said, the FJ is a classic. Anyway back to the comparison – The Prado looks good and different from the copy cat models we still see. In comparison the Fortuner is clearly a different model using the latest design trends but from Lexus rather than other brands. The model has been around for nearly a decade in production after all. It is decent to look at.
250 Series Toyota land Cruiser Prado Vs Toyota Fortuner interior: The Prado interior is a nice place to be. It’s design may have hard plastics here an there but there are solid and you can’t tell unless you touch them. Well made and looks good too and even better dependent on model grade and plenty of space. In comparison the Fortuner is clearly a nicer version of the Hilux but not close to the Prado. It is tighter in the dimensions and its space is in length length rather than width. It does look older but it feels solid enough to impress. Simply put the Prado has the nicer interior and Toyota should be commended for releasing designs different form the competition.
250 Series Toyota land Cruiser Prado Vs Toyota Fortuner engines and technology: There is new tech to the Prado although not new to Toyota. That tech is of course the much complained about hybrid system purely due to the space it takes up in the rear cargo area and upgrades to the 4WD and suspension system. Apart from there that is little to repot. In comparison the Fortuner does not any new or interesting tech to write about. That said the only change worth noting is that the engine has been updated to the 150KW and 500 Nm engine shared by both models.
The conclusion and winner of the 250 Series Toyota land Cruiser Prado Vs Toyota Fortuner is both. The Prado and Fortuner will appeal to different buyers. They are both capable off road plenty of space, sufficient power well built and so forth hence no way of separating them in the normal sense. As a result you can only decide between the based on looks, pricing and badge reputation. Speaking of which both are notable more expensive than when first released, like every other SUV or car in 2025. However if to take into account inflation over the years it is acceptable. Like house prices you should not expect them to go down in price unlike most influencers seem to think.
